UAE says to explore nuclear energy for electricity
http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSL242453720080324

DUBAI, March 24 (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates says it will establish a $100 million agency to look into developing nuclear energy to satisfy rising electricity demand in the Gulf oil exporter on Iran's doorstep. "Analysis of future domestic electricity demand ... has concluded that peaceful nuclear power generation represents an environmentally promising and commercially competitive option which could make a significant contribution to the UAE's economy and future energy security," a government statement carried by the official WAM news agency said.

"The UAE intends to establish a Nuclear Energy Implementation Organisation ... and is proceeding to evaluate the establishment of a peaceful nuclear programme."

Gulf Arab states -- among the world's largest oil and gas producers -- are considering nuclear power as they look to meet escalating domestic electricity demand without burning more fuel and eating into record export revenues.

The UAE signed a deal with France during President Nicolas Sarkozy's visit in January, agreeing to cooperate on a peaceful nuclear programme.

1. The UAE just want material to build bombs. They have tons of sunlight
they could be using instead of nuclear power.

2. So does Arizona.
They don't use solar energy there either.

They use nuclear energy. It's cheaper, cleaner, safer and has a smaller and less long lasting waste profile than solar PV.

Now, I realize there are a bunch of dumb fundie anti-nukes who believe that Islamic people can't want clean energy, because well, they're Islamic, but frankly, racism sucks.

The abysmal technical ignorance is equally as ugly.

Recently a solar apologist cited here some information about Tevlar and solar energy. Don't know what it is? Don't care? Couldn't give a rat's ass about persistent halogenated pollutants? Know absolutely zero about the chemistry and absorption spectrum of carbon tetrafluoride? Couldn't give a rat's ass about the atmospheric lifetime of it?

Why am I not surprised?

The selective attention of the anti-nuke cults is intellectually and more importantly, morally reprehensible.

The anti-nuke cult has what it wants. This is your world, lady, welcome to it. You have helped to prevent the world's largest source, by far, of climate change gas free energy from realizing its full potential because of ignorance and indifference.

Ignorance kills.
