Dallas in top 10 for green power

Dallas is the ninth-largest green-power purchaser in the United States, according to a study by the Environmental Protection Agency. An impressive twenty percent of the City of Dallas' power comes from wind energy sources.
Houston ranked No. 12 on the list, with 10 percent of its energy coming from renewable sources.
"Texas leads the nation in wind power production, and Dallas and Houston are leading the way in showing other cities how green power can help protect the environment," said Richard Greene, the EPA's regional administrator, in a media advisory. "By shifting to wind and other renewable power sources, cities can cut greenhouse gas emissions and change the way we generate energy."
Last year, Dallas purchased 333 million kilowatt-hours of wind generated electricity. Houston purchased 262 million kilowatt-hours.
