Clinton says Nevada could be model for solar power

FERNLEY-Packed would be the correct term to describe East Valley Elementary School's multipurpose room as New York Senator and U.S. Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton spoke to rural Nevadans Friday night.

"I believe that this is one of the most important elections that we've had in our country," Clinton said of the upcoming 2008 Presidential race.

Specific to Nevada, Clinton spoke of the state's abundance of wind, solar and geothermal resources, which could serve to make the U.S. less dependant on foreign oil.

With the amount of wind in Nevada each year, Clinton said the state should be packed with wind turbines and, in an energy crisis, could easily become a model for solar power.

What's more, Clinton said, the creation of American jobs for such new energy sources could be upwards around 5 million new positions.

Overall, the Senator said the U.S. needs to be build to a goal of producing 25 percent of its own energy requirements by 2025.She also noted the need for more hybrid vehicles in the U.S. and added Ford's Model T was more fuel efficient than most automobiles today.

Clinton likewise supports Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's opposition to more coal-fired power plants in Nevada, saying she is against emitting more greenhouse gases and pollution and noting other countries are already ahead of the U.S. in such endeavors.

It's been established... Nevada would provide our nations electrical power if only a plant were built. solar AND wind. so much for hillarys knowledge and experience.

Obviously, Nevada could be a source of solar electricity, but are they?

I believe Hillary is talking about turning dreams into reality.
