The above link reports that Neil Young, John Goodwin talked about the 100 MPG, biodiesel, plug-in 1960 Lincoln Continental project on CNN "American Morning" Monday, November 19th, 6-9 am EST

A press release from Reprise Records also says Neil is directing a movie all about the car called Linc-Volt. The film will feature the delivery of the car from California to Kansas and then a trip to show off the car in Detroit with the goal of "raising awareness of the feasibility of hybrid-powered cars within the mainstream consciousness." The film is scheduled for release in 2008 and we will sure be on the look out for it.

Neil Young to Appear on CNN's "American Morning" on November 19th

BURBANK, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 17, 2007 -- Neil Young will be interviewed on CNN's "American Morning" on Monday, November 19th. Young, in the middle of a North American tour, went to Wichita, Kansas to meet with John Goodwin, who is converting Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV convertible to run on biodiesel and electricity. Young and Goodwin describe the new fuel-efficient life of the car and how it holds exciting possibilities for the future.

Neil Young is directing a movie about the experience, including the drive from Northern California to Kansas to deliver the vehicle. Titled "Linc-Volt," the film is scheduled for a 2008 release. Once the conversion is complete, Young will drive the Lincoln from Wichita to Detroit for meetings with the auto industry, and then return to Kansas to retrace the route back to Northern California, raising awareness of the feasibility of hybrid-powered cars within the mainstream consciousness. He describes the Lincoln's new form and function as the embodiment of "classic Americana from then, meeting the Americana from now." The Linc-Volt is expected to achieve up to 100 miles per gallon on the highway.

"American Morning" airs on the CNN television network 6-9 a.m. EST. Neil Young's interview will also be featured on www.cnn.com.

Some background on John Goodwin comes from http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/120/motorhead-messiah.html an article titled "Hummers and muscle cars go green" By Michael Kanellos Apr 24 14:01:39 PDT 2007
http://www.news.com/Hummers-and-muscle-cars-go-green/2100-11389_3-6174130.html

Seems Wichita, Kan based Jonathan Goodwin has built a Hummer that can run on ethanol, hydrogen, biodiesel or natural gas--and gets the equivalent of 40 miles a gallon. He is a biodiesel conversion specialist and founder of alternative energy start-up SAE Energy which has converted about 60 H2 Hummers from gas to diesel (in gas-to-diesel conversions the gas-burning engine and original transmission are removed and replaced with a Duramax diesel engine, typically inserted in Chevy trucks, and an Allison transmission), and about 100 H1 hummers, including a Hummer that can burn the whole menu of clean fuels. A gas-to-diesel conversion boosts a Hummer's mileage from about 10 miles a gallon to between 22 and 24 miles a gallon, with Hummers normal 325 horsepower becoming 650. A diesel can deliver more torque--the rotational force applied to an object, in this case the car's crankshaft--than a gas engine. A 500 horsepower gas engine might put out 600 foot-pounds of torque. A similar diesel might put out 800 to 900 foot-pounds of torque .The engine inserted into the 1965 Impala cranks 850 horsepower and 1200 foot-pounds of torque. The Impala was chosen because it has a stronger frame than most other mid-1960s muscle cars.

Least Spring's Earth Day (April 22nd), MTV Networks' showed Goodwin on Pimp My Ride featuring a 1965 Impala that accommodated four or more passengers after he converted it from gas to biodiesel. Goodwin raced the car against a Lamborghini in a quarter-mile test that the Impala won. Since then a large delivery company negotiated with him about converting fleets of their diesel delivery vehicles from diesel to natural gas.

In addition, Kanellos reports, "drivers can cut down on emissions even more if they run their cars on biodiesel, made from vegetable oil, rather than diesel derived from hydrocarbons dug from the earth. The converted cars can run on either fuel, but biodiesel puts far less carbon dioxide into the air, along with other pollutants. (Diesel cars can also run on waste vegetable oil, but typically require additional modifications before it can just get filled up at the deep fat fryer.)"

The conversion takes seven days, costs roughly $24,000.

2. Just curious, but has any independent lab verified his results?
Let's just say, I'm a bit skeptical about some of his claims.
