IEA - Without Immediate Reductions By India & China, CO2 Up 57%, Temps Up 10.8F By 2030
The average global temperature will rise to a devastating level by 2030 if China and India do not begin curbing energy use and carbon emissions immediately, officials of the International Energy Agency predicted Wednesday.

Speaking at the World Energy Congress, the officials noted that 60 percent of the global increase in emissions from 2005 to 2030 would come from India and China. By next year, China will overtake the United States as the leader in carbon emissions, the agency predicts; some studies suggest that this has already occurred.

Citing a World Energy Outlook from the agency last week, the officials said that if current development trends continued unchanged, total carbon emissions would rise by 57 percent by 2030, leading to a global temperature increase of 6 degrees Celsius, or 10.8 degrees Fahrenheit, by 2030. (Ed. - emphasis added).

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations entity that presents its final report in Valencia, Spain, on Saturday, has estimated that global emissions would cause a warming of 1.8 to 4 degrees Celsius by the end of the century. Many scientists say 2 degrees is the threshold beyond which there would be significant social and economic disruption. The agency officials said that by 2015, China, the United States and India would be ranked 1, 2 and 3 respectively in global emissions, accounting for more than half of the world's total, the officials said.

7. Agree...
This is why we (the U.S.)have to start leading by example and make dramatic changes. This is the only way we will have any credibility going forward.

The problem with India and China is their massive populations. If every person in China were to start consuming even a tenth of what the average American does, they would quickly surpass us. In fact, I believe they already have or are only a few short years away.

5. Not to mention, likely, more that half of...
All plant and animal species. The effects of this being massive inbalance in most aspects of the environment resulting in tremendous survival problems for the rest of the species left, including us.

10. It's a kharmic moment for Gore...
I truly believe he needs to be the POTUS at this point in time in history...for all of our sake. But I will support him in whatever he decides. He is a tremendous asset to the world.

11. I doubt this very much
10.8F in the next 23 years? That's almost half a degree a year. I doubt very much that we will see warming increase that much over such a short period of time.

12. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just love climate change!!!

I've adopted a whole new attitude toward it, I am embracing it in a dark humor sort of way!!

I know I certainly can eat less and hell with less water and food, just think of those new fall fashions ladies, no problem fitting into them, because everyone will be sporting that new emaciated look!!!

And don't look at it as climate change, look at it as a new attitude adjustment! Turn that frown upside down buckaroo! Stock on the beer now, because when water runs out, there won't be anymore and you having the only supply, just think how popular you are going to be!!!

Weeeeeeee...um....weeeee...errr...we...
