Aviation Fuel Costs Push British Airways To Increase Fares - Telegraph

British Airways is raising ticket prices so that it can pass on the rising costs of fuel to its customers.

The airline said that it is expecting its fuel bill to rise by about £136m in the second half of this year, caused by the spiralling cost of oil, bringing its total fuel bill for the year to more than £2bn for the first time ever.

As a result, BA said today that it would charge passengers up to £15 more on tickets booked from this Thursday onwards.

It is the second time in just five months that BA has increased its fuel surcharge on tickets, and will mean that customers on a long-haul flight of more than nine hours will be charged £58 each way, £15 or 35pc more than the current rate of £43. The surcharge for long-haul flights of less than nine hours will increase by £10 to £48, and a short-haul flight will be £2 more expensive at £10.
