In Paraguay, Public Transport Authority Announces Operations Cut - No Fuel - Warns Government
Asuncion, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Paraguay's Department of Public Transportation (SETAMA) announced semiparalization of operations on Monday due to a lack of fuel in the country.

SETAMA Director Julio Davalos warned that in the last 15 days, transportation firms have had just 50 percent of the gas oil needed and so service will be dramatically affected if they fail to receive fuel by the end of the day.

He lamented that State Oil (PETROPAR) failed to notify authorities of the looming shortage so that a more rational use of fuel could have been implemented.

1. Interesting batch of fuel-shortage stories today.
I wonder if this could be interpreted as part of the anticipated first round of demand-destruction predicted in an evolving peak oil scenario?

2. Oh, that's definitely how I'm reading it - the first to go will be those least able to pay
Hence all these stories from countries most Americans couldn't find on a map with a gun to their heads - Zambia, Paraguay, Kenya and(lest we forget what sparked the initial unrest) Myanmar.

And since the one area at home dealing with spot shortages of diesel is in the American Empty Quarter (ND) nobody's paying attention to that, either.

5. If they've still got those missile silos, then yes, they're now a province.
Living north of the Imperial States of America you need all the big sticks you can gather.

6. I wonder how long
before the rest of the world's people see the correlation to peak oil? Interesting times are ahead to say the least
