Between the 1950s and the 1990s, the amount of sunlight reaching the ground has diminished by 10% in
the USA and 30% in Russia, mainly because of anthropogenic aerosols in the atmosphere.

"Records show that over the past 50 years the average amount of sunlight reaching the ground has gone down by almost 3% a decade. It's too small an effect to see with the naked eye, but it has implications for everything from climate change to solar power and even the future sustainability of plant photosynthesis. 1. I heard that before

I think Nova did a show on it. The global dimming may actually mask some of the impact of global warming. Ironically, if we cut down the pollution it'll lead to a bump in temperatures because of CO2.

2. Some of the pollutants we spew are good at hiding evidence of harm

by other pollutants we spew.

This, on the whole, is not a recipe for a successful species long-term.
