Activists climb Masontown(PA) smokestack to protest Bush policy
http://www.post-gazette.com/breaking/20040623stackp6.asp

Activists were climbing a smokestack at a coal-fired power plant today and planned to secure a banner in protest of President Bush’s energy policy, Greenpeace said.

The protesters were climbing the 700-foot smokestack at the Hatfield’s Ferry Power Station, said Nancy Hwa, a Greenpeace spokeswoman.

“The Hatfield’s Ferry Power Station is a symbol and an example of the Bush administration’s dirty energy policy, which consistently favors polluting fossil fuel over clean sources, such as wind and solar,” the group said in a news release. “The Bush administration has systematically weakened clean air laws, placing the health of Americans and of the environment at risk.”

The Hatfield’s plant, owned by Allegheny Energy, is about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh in Greene County.

2. "Our main concern right now is the safety of the people up on the stack...
...Obviously they are trespassing but we want to get them down safely," said Guy Fletcher, an Allegheny Energy spokesman.
"Then we want to swab their eyes with mace and beat them with clubs untill they are bruised and bloody," he added with a grin.

15 miles from where I live. Great! We usually don't have much activism around here, but people really don't like bush*.

7. Greenpeace members are arsonists playing at being firemen.

Here is an organization that grandstands against ALL energy projects without saying how they will replace the energy sources that humanity requires merely to survive.

The fact is that Greenpeace "activists" (grandstanding spoiled brats) have been extremely active in the antinuclear movement, which is, under the circumstances, as about as anti-environmental as you can get on this planet.

The fact is if these stupid fucks weren't pulling childish stunts of an equivalent nature whenever the word "radioactive" is spoken, it's very probable the fucking smokestack (which is actually killing people) might not be there in the first place.

Greenpeace is not about the environment. It is about self absorption. It's a kind of (puke) Naderism. It is about a bunch of scientifically illiterate spoiled children pointing to themselves and saying "Look at me! Look at me!" Personally I don't give a shit if they fall and hurt themselves. Since they have nothing but platitudes and distortions to offer, they are a very big part of the problem. The planet is dying and they're playing cute games.
