Farmer leaves crocs to starve
Nairobi - A Kenyan farmer has starved to death at least 500 crocodiles following a dispute with authorities over marketing products derived from the reptiles, Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) said on Friday.

Bob Maina, who is licensed to farm crocodiles in eastern Kenya's Mbeere district, abandoned the reptiles after a feud with KWS over the sale of their meat and skin, KWS's Deputy Director of Security Josiah Ochoki told reporters.

"Its true, Bob Maina abandoned at least 500 crocodiles and they died of starvation and dehydration. He then relocated to another farm in Kutus (also in eastern province), where he rears 23 other crocodiles and six tortoises," Achoki said.
