Propaganda Quiz
I'm fairly sure this bit of global warming denial propaganda is put out by a pro coal mining group: http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/Gl...est/start.html

It's full of falsehoods, and worse yet people on another website I work with are buying into this BS, :banghead:

Here is a link to that discussion: http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93024 and OMG, I so want to counter the info with the truth but sadly I can't due to conflict of interest issues with the website.

However here is what I would reply with if I could :

In the interest of equal time http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/12/1206_041206_global_warming_2.html

The following section of that page should be of particular interest to those here who believe that what we see in the current state of global climate change is due to either natural cycles or solar output or both.

(snip)
• Some experts point out that natural cycles in Earth's orbit can alter the planet's exposure to sunlight, which may explain the current trend. Earth has indeed experienced warming and cooling cycles roughly every hundred thousand years due to these orbital shifts, but such changes have occurred over the span of several centuries. Today's changes have taken place over the past hundred years or less.

• Other recent research has suggested that the effects of variations in the sun's output are "negligible" as a factor in warming (snip)

Anywho, if someone here wants to educate some people there please feel free to post my would be reply ;)

3. That is one point of view
There is another movie out there called "The Great Global Warming Swindle" that presents an alternate view point.

4. The Great Global Warming Swindle
Yes, I've heard of it.

It's being promoted as the "fair and balanced antidote" to An Inconvenient Truth.

Funded 100% by the Right.

Broadcast on UK Channel 4, their version of Fox.

Both the auteur (Martin Durkin) and Channel 4 had produced other anti-environmental films, usually with even weaker support.

Much of the key data presented to the viewers was fudged.

Promoted heavily on RW websites including Alex Jones' Prison Planet.

Several of the scientists it cites, even two who are friendly to anti-AGW arguments, have blasted it for misquotation.

When scientists objected to the program in a civil manner, Durkin wrote many of them abusive e-mail.

All criticism of the piece is being dismissed as unfair and "censorship".

If you want to "debunk" global warming (if it is still possible), you will have to lay off the conservative Kool-Aid and use scientific studies directly. The Right has lost all credibility in this issue.

Since I have supported a few controversial issues in my time, I think I may have a smidgen of credibility on the subject. The way to promote "heterodox" ideas is NOT by poking people in the eye and then claiming to be a "maverick".

5. Have you seen AIT?

Every global warming denier I have ever met has not seen the film. That, to me, is telling.

2. The "deniers" are running scared. When I listen to Lardass...
just about all he talks about is Global Warming being a farce. A good half of the 3 hour show is about trying to debunk the facts, and Limbaugh just can't do it...:D

Same with all of the other RW jugheads, they are trying, citing one or two "sources" and ignoring the thousands that say this is a problem. It is all "natural" to them, the stupidity is mind-boggling. The whole Mt Pinatubo thing is absurd. Lardass says that "millions of tons of CO2 were spewed out, and that is natural"...but what the idiot does not take into consideration is that the whole CO2 situation is cumulative. Add what Pinatubo spewed out to the billions of tons we spew out, and it adds up, it does not negate what we put in the air...now, the natural aspect of Pinatubo is exasperated by our own contributions. Billions of tons, now comes closer to a trillion tons, and that is going to affect everything.

The only good thing I can see about Global Warming is that Limbaugh's property in FL will be under water, and he'll lose millions of $....:D

On the other hand, so many others will lose as well...this shift is not self correcting, we are killing our planet, and it may already be too late to reverse some of the damage...:(

6. It's the CO2 that Lardass himself is belching out that has me worried
Mt. Pinatubo only erupts every century or two.
