UE prior week Claims are ALWAYS adjusted to make change "better"
Just about every week we find the prior week was worse than we thought - so the change this week is better - or less bad!

"In the week ending April 3, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 328,000, a decrease of 14,000 from the previous week's unrevised figure of 342,000. The 4-week moving average was 336,750, a decrease of 3,250 from the previous week's revised average of 340,000."

"In the week ending April 10, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 360,000, an increase of 30,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 330,000. The 4-week moving average was 344,250, an increase of 6,750 from the previous week's revised average of 337,500."

I do not recall a week when it went in the "other" direction!

:-)

1. Been that way for months now. Stories touting the 'decrease' in jobless
claims usually front page; next week's redaction usually hidden in small paragraph inside paper.
Typical right-wing lies parading as truth and leadership.

Need to have a conversation with Ralph on the big white phone.
