Does anyone have historic data on the percentage of the US economy derived from various sectors?

Specifically, I am looking for information that sheds light on the question,

As our economy moves(d) from actual production of goods and services (for people) to one based on artificial manipulation of economic markets and predatory/disaster capitalism, how have the people fared?

My hypothesis is that as we have gone

from making "things" and "providing actually-needed services" to people

to an economy where the corporate profits (at making more money instead of products) increases,

the power of those running the system has increased to the detriment of the nation as a whole and the majority of its people.

Simply put - can a nation survive on a purely middle-man economic structure?
