Help needed with Ahnuld's bond measures -- California

How are the rest of you voting on Props 57 and 58? I hate voting Ahnuld's way, but the people on the other side are even more loathsome. I'd love to spite Ahnuld but not at the state's expense. As much as I despise the Gropenator, he didn't create the budget mess, even though he did make it worse by eliminatin the KAH tax.

What's everyone else planning to do, and how much Scotch should I drink before voting to save Ahnuld's skin?

2. yes 56, no on 57 and 58

Prop 56 is the most important one. It would stop the Republicans from keeping the budget hostage to their minority.

No on prop 58 is a no-brainer. Prop 58 is the Grover Norquist for California act. The Republicans get to keep giving tax cuts for the rich and prop 58 lets them take the money from the schools.

I'm voting no on prop 57, because they still need to pass a balanced budget. Currently, the Republicans (including Arnold) are demanding cuts in education and refusing to pay for them with taxes. Prop 57 just lets them play the same deficit games that Bush is playing with the federal budget, i.e. they get their tax cuts and they get to avoid politically difficult spending cuts until the future.

As an ignorant non Californian, not knowing which prop means what I'll say this. The borrowing plan will pass. Vote against if if you want, but it will pass. Period. The alternaive is just too terrible.

Besides, borrowing is the American way. It's certainly the California way. Always has been and always will be. The timing is good too because, stupidly, interest rates are still low. The state will pay off in ever cheaper dollars as some day, some month, some year, inflation will start growing and growing and growing and you will be paying it back in cheaper dollars.

PS: I guess the question of the constitutionality of the borrowing has been settled. Somehow. Just going to show I think, that when the money is big enough little things like laws and constitutions can be safely ignored.

You can vote for 55 if you like, but what we need is more
teachers, not more school buildings. Still, it's jobs that
can't be outsourced ...
