Conflict of interest would just prove too expensive for him. He will, in all likelihood, be tapped on frequently as an "economic advisor", as he has been repeatedly. My guess is that SOT will likely fall to a Timothy Geithner, Fed Governor for NY - he's been one of Obama's chief advisors, he obviously is very familiar with the terrain, and overall he tends to have considerably more moderate credentials. Paulson would likely be retained as an economic advisor as well, though Obama may very well choose to keep him as interrim SOT or DSOT.
