Wal-Mart wants to build a superstore on Washington's childhood home
Wal-Mart has perfected the art of bullying local communities. Now they want to bully Fredericksburg, VA into building a Wal-Mart Cheap-Crap Super-Mega-Store on the site of George Washington's childhood home. When Fredericksburg said no, Wal-Mart threatened to build it on the site of a famous Civil War battle site.

Don't let Wal-Mart bully this community -- fight back against Wal-Mart.

2. They're trying that again?
I thought that was shot down a couple of years ago. There are already big box stores all over hallowed ground in Virginia. What a pity if they get this through.

3. Smite them, President George W.
Rise up from your grave and rally the Continental Army. You beat the British. You can take the greed heads.

6. Sad thing is, you'll probably fight them again.
They have lots of attorneys and lots of time. They are like pit bulls. Eventually, they'll find a judge who will give in, over the wishes of the people.

9. Considering that Wal-Mart's "hometown" is a sprawl-at-any-cost
urban wannabe where the lovely Victorian house that Will Rogers considered his second home was razed and is now a fenced-off storage yard, where a stately 100-year-old church was razed to make way for a parking lot and another, unique Jeffersonian domed church dating from 1915 was razed to make way for a bank (talk about irony!), I'm not surprised at this.
