Historical financial crisis media
Lately, I've read so many pieces predicting the total collapse of the US banking system that I'm curious about media stories during other rough financial times. Was there a steady stream of similar dire predictions during the crashes of '29 and '87, or during the S&L crisis? Are the doomsayers just preaching the SOS, or are we truly in a whole new level of doo doo? Any perspectives?

1. Let me guess...
there are no comments because the prevailing attitude is "you know how to google, why don't you tell us, DoucheKing?"

4. 87...
.... was merely a market crash, it had limited affect on the real economy so IMHO it has no bearing on what is happening now.

The GD had some similarities, a huge debt bubble created from easy credit and speculation (stocks then, houses now), so comparisons are somewhat valid IMHO.

Those who think this scenario has been overhyped, well that would not be possible IMHO - our banking system is technically insolvent ALREADY and we the taxpayers will be paying to bail it out.

The PTB are going to control the pace of the bank failures using various mechanisms, because their primary goal at this time to to prevent panic.

Which I suppose is their job, having created this mess through inaction.
