It appears Bush's AWOL "proof" is that one man does not remember what.....
happened 35 years ago.

I know all the stuff about favortism - which is a whole diferent subject.
Are their any RECORDS that show Bush was AWOL - not just some newspaper story?

It sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking to me on part of Dems.

If there are records indicating this, it should simple to show Bush AWOL.

If there are NO records - forget it.

Bush walked away from a years duty while in the National Guard -proof here

This is not the story of a search for missing records. We have the pertinent records.

This is not a hunt for credible eyewitnesses and first hand statements. The officers involved have stepped forward. We have their testimony and we have the signed statements of those no longer living.

This is the story of how George Walker Bush walked away from a years duty while in the National Guard.

And, this is the story of how he has thus far gotten away with it.

Now that the thread starter knows that the documents exist, perhaps they could email this fact to Dana Priest at the Washington Post

priestd@washpost.com

I bet she'd be interested.

Bush wasn't AWOL, he was a deserter.
Maybe you can produce the records to prove that he DID show up for service in Alabama. Nobody else seems to be able to.

11. Bingo!
The way is was put to me in 1969, an unauthorized absence becomes desertion after 30 days. I don't think the UCMJ has changed all that much.

2. I still say their are no records left. Poppy would have them years ago.
You can be sure when he would not take med. test so he could fly some thing was up. Could you have done that? Then going to another state? I am sure he was just sick of that he was doing in Texas. It also shows how inside the belt-way he has been. In the 70's he was working behind the people running. He also worked with this Lee Atwater and that guy would do anything to get his man into office.Bush may be no state man but he knows how to sell his name, so him self.We may see him as second rate but he does come out on top so many times.I am sure he will on this service business.I am glad he will not be able to put Kerry down and Kerry will fight. He did a job on McCain who no one had to right to say thing about, I mean Southerns were calling in and saying McCain was a turn coat in Nam and where did they get that? Bush plays mean.

12. Forget? No way.
The chimp needs to clear himself. This story would not have the standing it does unless there was some basis.
Granted I have strong feelings about this. I am not alone.

9. Why is it our burden to prove Bush was AWOL
I still have copies of all my dad's paperwork when he was in the Navy during the Korean War.

All Georgie has to do is show us his paperwork proving where he was and we'll be quiet.

He hasen't, so we won't.

10. sorry - this is not going away.
Let the burden of proof be on the Chimp. Not on his detractors.
My sense is that if he honorable completed his tour of duty, there would not even be a discussion about desertion or being AWOL.

Believe what you will. I support your right to do that, however, I believe the Chimp did not complete his tour of service.
