4. "Politically Incorrect" was perhaps the finest example of what happens...

...if you don't cater to the whims of advertisers. Maher spoke his mind, damn the consequences, and the American viewing public went stupid and screwed him by not recognizing the importance of not catering.

I'm thankful that "The Daily Show" makes something of an effort, but (with all due respect to Jon Stewart) it just doesn't get serious enough without thinking that they'll lose the humor value. Maher made it work, but when people see what happened to him, they get scared.

It's too bad - he was great weapon against the O'Reallys and Limbags on the tube these days (and was one of the few people to say Coulter was full of shit on a regular basis, even if he did like her)...
