Poll question: Do you watch the National Nightly News? If so, what do you watch?
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 05:38 AM by La_Serpiente
I prefer The News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS. They treat their guests with respect, ask the right questions on most occasions, don't have commercials, and their guests have the opportunity to get their message across more effectively than other stations since they are alloted more minutes. It also lacks the sensationalism I see on other stations, which is something I really like.

At the end of each news program on PBS, they show the photos of the soldiers that died in Iraq. You don't see that on any other news station on cable. Their news stories are of much better quality than that of cable.

CNN, Faux, and MSNBC just rehash their national news all day. They don't really have a nightly news.

1. Odd but I can not get PBS and I must call.
That news is all I watched for years as it was the only station I could get at one time. Early 90's and I was really happy and did not care and one day my son was up and I said some thing about it. He said' oh Mom, Dad did not tune in the set when he left' and in less than 5 min he had all Ch so they ran.I frankly was happy with that news and their shows. Now PBS gives me two different things in sound and picture. Sort of odd and I should do some thing about it. This cable co. is nuts as one day I came home from shopping and not one Ch was the same as when I went out. I, at 70 ,thought I had finally lost it. I finally called a friend to see what her TV was doing. Everyones had been moved. The Co never told anyone they were going to do it.

5. Combination:
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 07:24 AM by Ron_GreensboroNC
Lehrer (PBS) at 6, then Rather (CBS) at 6:30 unless there's a good piece on Lehrer, then Stewart at 7. Can't stand Brokaw or Jennings.

On edit: But on the whole, I get most of my news from the Internet.

6. Lots of newscasts. . .
I start with CBS at 6:30, then move on to CNN from 7-8 (Anderson Cooper 360), then move on to MSNBC from 8-9 (Countdown with Keith Olbermann) on most nights, then CNN again from 10-11 (Aaron Brown) and then cap off my evening with Jon Stewart from 11-11:30 (yeah, I know it's not a news show-but it is funny), and then the rest of Hardball with Chris Matthews from 11-11:30. I watch the NBC Today show in the morning.

7. Start with CBS
the I move to Hardball on MSNBC. Sometimes, I'll stick with it for Keith Olberman...depending on whether the regular network shows are reruns or showing some dumb movie.

8. I used to watch Crossfire on CNN
untill it became soft and less informative. Now I mostly stick to the news services on the net, and occasionally watch one of the major network nightly news shows when I'm in the mood.
