I Despise CNN's Bill Schneider
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 05:48 PM by Stevendsmith
The guy is a card-carrying neocon, yet he has a gig as a CNN "objective" political analyst. My blood boils when he makes blanket statements about how the "American people" support Bush.

I mean, this guy reads a poll number of 50% and dishonestly reports that number as representing the "American people." Infuriating!

Schneider is a dishonest and egregiously unprofessional RNC hack.

1. Somebody check me on this...
Doesn't he have ties to the American Enterprise Institute ? I thought there was something about him being an AEI "Fellow".

BILL SCHNEIDER

Bill Schneider, one of this country's foremost political commentators, is CNNs lead political analyst. Schneider will lend his expertise to CNN's CAMPAIGN USA '96 coverage. He regularly appears on CNNs Inside Politics, the only daily political news program, which airs weekdays from 4 - 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 - 9 p.m. (ET). Schneider joined CNN in 1990.

Schneider serves as CNNs major handicapper of Campaign USA 96. He assesses the progress of national and local political candidates, analyzes the networks polls and regularly delivers his Political Play of the Week every Friday on Inside Politics. On Inside Politics Weekend he checks in with his Story Behind The Story, an in-depth look at the political underpinnings of one of the week's most important stories. Inside Politics Weekend airs Saturdays from 7:30 - 8 p.m. (ET) and replays Sundays from 10:30 - 11 a.m. (ET).

Schneider is a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., and a contributing editor to The Los Angeles Times, National Journal and The Atlantic Monthly. He recently held the O'Neill Visiting Professorship of American Politics at Boston College, a post named after the late Thomas P. O'Neill Jr., speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Schneider's weekly column, "Political Pulse," is syndicated by the Los Angeles Times. He has been labeled "the nation's election meister" by The Washington Times and "the Aristotle of American politics" by The Boston Globe. Campaigns and Elections called him "the most consistently intelligent analyst on television."
Schneider, who holds a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University, began his career in the 1970s as a professor in Harvard's department of government. He started writing for The Los Angeles Times in the mid-70s while continuing to teach.

Schneider is co-author of The Confidence Gap: Business, Labor and Government in the Public Mind, (Johns Hopkins University Press, second printing 1987). He has written extensively on politics and public opinion for such publications as The Washington Post and The New Republic. He is a featured speaker on public affairs, both in the United States and abroad.

Yep
Good Ol' Charlie Brown is an AEI Fellow.

My first impression of him was election night 2000, when he predicted that if Gore filed suit, the USSC would "throw it out." Well, who knows, he may have been right, but Bush sued, and the felonious five sure didn't throw it out.

2. I can't stand him either
I think what most disturbs me is that he looks and sounds (voice and tone - not words) so innocent and benign. We've nicknamed him the "evil bunny" at my house.

6. Yes!
That drives me nuts, too. His friendly demeanor masks his insidious partisan rhetorical dishonesty.

10. That's the republican way
Innocent and impish.. girl next door or cutesy..

They have a factory somewhere and of course they must all attend the same seminars and then there are the daily faxed talking points from Karl..

They are all fast talkers and LOUD talkers too..

They will chew up time like nobody's business, and usually the meek democrat sits there and waits their turn.. These drones are trained to eat up all the time..and to talk over and interrupt..

The infuriating thing is that WE see it, but the people in charge of our party either don't see it, or they choose to ignore it..

5. no doubt...

Yesterday, he was talking about how conservatives were revolting against Chimpy's neocon policies.

He said "I spend a lot of time reading conservative newspapers, magazines and blogs..."

I said to the TV.. "No shit!"

9. two recent Bill Schneider CNN reports
1) Schneider talks about how tired the Demcoratic candidates presumably are from non-stop campaigning, and the Beatles song "I'm So Tired" is played on the soundtrack (with nothing else on the soundtack) while video of the Democrats is shown.

Democrats are ridiculed with a song.

2) Schneider says primary candidates like Howard Dean who aren't in first place are like "vampires" waiting for the right time to strike, and a clip of Bela Lugosi as Dracula is shown.

The phrase "Half-Dead" is displayed prominently on the screen during most of the piece to describe any Democratic candidate besides Kerry.

Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 07:43 PM by anti-NAFTA
Are you sure there isn't just a neocon with the same name?

edit: nevermind. I just read the other posts on this thread and found good evidence that it is true.
