We now know that rhetoric was a tissue of exaggeration and delusion. (More factual basis exists for a claim that the United States aided, trained and harbored the 9/11 terrorists: after all, we trained them to fly planes.)

Note I said delusion, not "lies". If you say something you sincerely believe, and that something turns out to be wrong, you have not lied. Bush believed what he said last March 17. He wasn't lying: he was deluded. Therein lies a truth more distresswing than any talk of "lies": This White House is an ideological bubble impervious to uncomfortable facts.

How long will the mainstream media keep spouting this crap? Bush didn't lie. Sincerely believed. Deluded.
I've been reading this paper regularly and don't recall once having seen a discussion of PNAC in relation to the trumped up invasion of Iraq. Nothing equating it to a jumping off point to the fulfillment of a deranged neo-con manifesto.
How can Satullo assert that Bush, the CEO pResident, was just a stubbornly deluded victim. At first, I thought this article to be a bit of what the Brits refer to as a "piss-take", but nah, it isn't. It wouldn't be anyway, not in The Inquirer. They'll be giving this asshole a pass 'til the bitter end, which for Bush we can all anticipate will only be a matter of months away.
