Pro-military crap on front page of newspaper

The thug regime has claimed another victim -- this time, the Olympian in Washington state. This once-proud newspaper (the newspaper that, last year, exposed the astroturf letters from soldiers in Iraq) now regularly runs shamelessly gushing pro-military stories on its front page, including today's lovefest:

FORT LEWIS -- The Stryker brigade, fresh off its global introduction as the Army's newest combat unit, soon will make its digital debut.

Game designers visited the home of the first two of a planned six Stryker brigades on Friday to watch the soldiers' training for inclusion in a future edition of the popular "America's Army" online video game.

... Many have described "America's Army" as a recruiting tool. But Chambers said its primary mission is to present a realistic portrayal of the Army to young people who have only seen military service depicted in movies or on television.

It's a "happy byproduct" if the game draws more young people to the recruiting office, he said.

And then, right below that, another equally gushing wire story (no link) proclaiming: "Stryker stars in robot Army project."

Meanwhile, the Stryker crew is getting shot at in Iraq, and you won't find a word about it in the happy-military world of the Olympian.

It's clear that someone, somewhere has gotten to them. And it's disgusting, shameful, and a sad decline for one of the war's bravest corporate voices -- at least as brave as corporate media could be.
