David Frum and Richard Perle on "Fresh Air" -- Oh, my dear god

You gotta hear this interview.

Some of the stuff these guys said was truly chilling. And if you understand how strongly they influence Bush's foreign policy, you'll probably have trouble sleeping at night.

1. I heard a bit of it in the car

they hardly even made logical sense half the time... I spent most of it shouting things to my radio that I dare not post!

5. That's what made it so scary

They used numerous logical fallacies to justify their positions, and sometimes showed a remarkably poor grasp on reality. For example, after suggesting that we should wage war on other middle eastern countries that don't knuckle under to American authority, they claimed that our military would currently be able to do so, and that its present burdens in Iraq and Afghanistan are no big deal.

These guys are spending way too much time hanging out at the American Enterprise Institute.

2. The most maddening thing

about Perle, Frum , Wolfowitz et al , is the sweeping statements they make to provide rationale for their thought process.
Typical " when the countries see how others are dealt with , they will fall into line"

Oh really? Like Iraq and Afghanistan are "in line" or any semblance thereof?

4. I kept thinking that I was truly hearing the voice of evil

while these guys were talking. They were so glib, so unrepentant, so convinced that they were right. And little or no thought to the levels of destruction and death that their worldview has caused. Truly chilling. At least Terri Gross was working them over some.

Even members of my right-wing Christian family who don't want me to send them political stuff. I want them to hear these men's attitude toward Homeland Security and the deficit and Perle's conflict of interest between those companies and the government. God I pray they listen.
