Whose god is it anyway?
Current style in journalism goes something like this: Capitalize God or words that mean God in reference to the divine being of all monotheistic religions. Lowercase god, goddess and their plural forms when referring to the deities of polytheistic religions and cultural mythologies; but capitalize their proper names. See any bias there? I sure do.

1. This is apparently based on the widespread belief that god is an insecure weenie
who is so needy that he has to make all humans afraid of him by acting like a complete dick.

If you don't capitalize his name he'll throw your ass in the lake of fahr for all eternity. And yet we must refer to him as a loving god.

He sounds like a typical bully to me.

2. to be honest, no
"God" here takes the form of a name, and is rightly capitalized. Just because his followers have adopted a generic "brand name" rather than continuing calling him either El or Yahweh (both pre-existing polytheistic deities by the way) as the Bible does, does not mean it's biased to capitalize it. When morons similarly call their kids after nouns, like "Track" for example, it doesn't mean it's biased to capitalize Track the name not track the object.

Now on the other hand this silly special pleading with pronouns like "Him" and "His" is utter shite, terrible grammar and definitely bias, and I refuse to go along with it.

4. His, etc
Even most wide-spread English translations of the Bible (NIV, NRSV, NAB) don't capitalize the pronouns. The "niche" translations for the more conservative groups do tend to continue the practice.

3. Isn't the God
and His hierarchy of Angels, etc., just an ancient, mythological blueprint for the corporatist model?

God is the BIG CEO, and we are the sheep in need of a shepherd, or workers in cubicles, wage slaves, Serfs, etc. The template of Religious dogma is an imposed structure designed to entrench a powerful hierarchy that we are compelled to support, sustain and obey.

I say let the god be its own god and, if you like, leave some cupcakes and tea out for it at night, just in case.

I would like to see the end of all hierarchies, but that is a dangerous perspective since it challenges the entire system and would make us all Sovereigns in an entirely new game that, initially, would have the potential to be chaotic, though chaos is not necessarily a bad thing, depending on your definition, (Ancient Greek, Anarchistic, or modern).

8. What I have wondered for many years is why
having sex with a good friend is a worse sin than starting wars in innocent countries?

9. Because HE says that bonking is bad...
(unless you are both virgins of different sexes, who want to make babies)

OTOH, killing children in the name of HIM is easy, fun, and exciting!

(sorry, it's been a REALLY bad day)

5. I think the way it works
is that if you don't captitalize it correctly, this all knowing, all seeing being will get up off of his (His? Her? Its?) throne somewhere (the Vega system? Centauri? Andromeda?) flies here and smites the offender. Seems like it would take a while to get here, but maybe my assumptions are wrong. He/She/It/he/she/it may be hanging around our galactic hood, or maybe Einstein was wrong, and you can travel faster than the speed of light.

And in any case, the most important question is, since God/god gets up from a throne, does He/She/It/he/she/it have buns?

Also, I think the smiting is connected to the hellfire thing, somehow.
