2. Knoxville Unitarian Universalist church shooting
On July 27, 2008, a politically motivated<1><2> fatal shooting took place at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. Motivated by a desire to kill liberals and Democrats, gunman Jim David Adkisson fired a shotgun at members of the congregation during a youth performance of a musical, killing two people and wounding seven others.
......

The following books were found in Adkisson's home during a police search:<9>

* Liberalism is a Mental Disorder by radio talk show host Michael Savage
* Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty over Liberalism by talk show host Sean Hannity
* The O'Reilly Factor: The Good, the Bad, and the Completely Ridiculous in American Life by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly

In his manifesto, Adkisson also included the Democratic members of the House and Senate,<11> and the 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America <11> of Bernard Goldberg in his list of wished-for targets.

4. I remember that shooting
I remember that shooting, friend - it was all over the Knoxville, and national, media.

That is, until this facet - that he was targeting liberals out of his right-wing influenced mindset - came out. The story was then hushed by most of the media, especially Fox News, as two of the books found in the gunman's home were by their personalities.

When I mention incidents of violence influenced by these right-wingers in the media, and use this as an example, I am ridiculed in other forums on the 'net. Yet I feel that somewhere along the line, some of those right-wingers in the media may influence another violent incident, and when that happens, I look forward to the prosecutor in the case to look for the influence, and when it should be found, those on the right who influenced it are indicted for incitement to violence.

Wouldn't you just love to see, say, Sean Hannity sent up the river for a few years - just to teach him that his words can have an evil effect? I know I would.
