Had occasion to drive around a bit yesterday, so I checked in on what the maniacs were saying
on hate radio.

From the little I was able to stomach, it seems to me that they are much more, how should I say this, totally freaking crazed compared to the slightly-less-than-total mental illness that they have been exhibiting for the past eight years. I could almost "see" the spittle spewing from Oxyboy's and Insanity's mouths as they ranted on. They sounded so wound-up that they could hardly get complete sentences out.

The thought that first came to my mind was that they just could not wrap their few active synapses around the fact that "the white guy lost." One of the basic tenets of their faith-set about Amerika has been destroyed and they cannot believe it.

Am I correct in concluding that they are suffering (rightfully so) a kind of mental breakdown?

The obvious next question is what to do about it. That question has been talked about here on DU - should they be allowed to dig themselves deeper into non-relevance or should they be totally crushed, now that they are at their weakest?

I guess that is a parallel question to how Fuck Nooze should be treated. Boycott into irrelevance or try to rescue by bringing them more toward the truth? Crush by ignoring them or reach across the Grand Canyon of values and rational thought?

What we think is irrelevant. What President Obama thinks is what matters.

What will he do?

1. They've been like this before.
They were this bad when President Clinton was in office. It was all about how evil and vicious the government and government employees were. There was a constant drumbeat: Waco, taxes, Ruby Ridge, taxes, and so forth. I still think that the sheer vitriol of right wing radio led to the Oklahoma City bombing. I think Timothy McVeigh thought he'd be viewed as some kind of hero.

It's been this bad, and there will always be enough of a lunatic fringe in the US for them to stay in business.

5. Yes, and they all had the same attitude that Clinton was a usurper,
that the Rethugs somehow own America.

6. Small point....
Ruby Ridge incident happened on August 21, 1992..... before Clinton was elected.

I've noticed how the Whackjobs a few years ago used to lump RR and Waco together, and then blame Clinton.

Had a guy's head explode one time when I interjected into his rant that RR was on Poppy's watch.

Then, he just started up again.

2. Part of me says "Let them continue with their mental, downward spiral and they'll become irrelevant"
The other part of me worries about the impact they'll have on "unstable" listeners and what those listeners will be inspired to do. :scared:

3. I don't follow Rush and posted something about totally ignoring him, but he came out with
a very specific wording that was terrorist tinted. I don't think he can be ignored.

The only thing I can think of is what I'm always asking for.

Someone with time to keep track and document.

I've asked for this for various other things that have happened.

We need a place to go to where we can copy and paste a paragraph or article that refute lies so that we don't have to keep so many things in our head and something that can be accessed fast so that we can shut down a lie or educate a relative or c-worker who spread the lie.

Snopes is not narrow enough and doesn't cover all the things that are important to us.

4. Mark Levin is just as bad

I had the misfortune of listening to Mark Levin for about fifteen minutes the other day when I caught a ride home from college classes with a wacko conservative friend of mine (car's in the shop).

Levin was droning on about how bad "MSLSD" is and how all of the hosts basically suck from "Morning Joe to The Evening Ho". Well, I dub Mark Levin- "The Radio Dildo". I hope everyone starts referring to him as that. We have to crush these fucktards. Bring back The Fairness Doctrine and bring it back now.
