WTF IS GOING ON AT MSNBC?
They are replaying the NBC coverage of 911.

I don't like being manipulated. Either this was a upper level decision, or the morning hour decision to run this coverage. Either way, this is
a slap in the face for people who lived in NYC in 01, and the people that ACTUALLY understand what KO was talking about last night.

Is there a switchboard number?

30. Actually,
They do this each year on this day. History channel also looks at 9-11, as they did previously on this day. Other channels used to do so, don't know how many do nowadays. But this is not new for either MSNBC or the history channel.

KO's objection to the film aired at the RNC was that it began with Iran, tying that country firmly to the fear that has been peddled since 9-11. What is airing today (tapes of the broadcasts as they happened) do not make that connection.

There is, in this case, no manipulation.

4. on MSNBC
they are literally "replaying", in real time, uncut, the Today show footage of September 11th, with only the "date" noted at the bottom of the screen to indicate that this was September 11th, 2001. It is too much. Uncut, in real time?

14. It'd be nice...
but considering he is not allowed to cover any more debates or election night coverage, i'm thinking he probably won't because he might get fired if he isn't careful. I could be wrong though.

He's just not anchoring.

And no, KO will not get fired because he's their cash cow.

23. It's not any different from a cheap docudrama...its only value is to scare people
There is no value in them playing this over again. This is not "news,"(just like all those prison docudramas) and it is not a return to 9/11 coverage to see what the media could have done differently on that day.

It's cheap for them to go to the vaults and play it over again. Hooray for them they saved on production costs!!!!!! Let's all watch again!

There is something really weird going on.

For the record -- TV is background noise to me while I read. I flip around through the 24hrs stations and Bloomberg, while I read FT and other econ/military reports. If you've seen Hal Hartley's Trust then my positions on TV are sort of the same...

Not really interested in seeing KO be on TV long term, but it's interesting to see how transparent News Corp/Republicans are when you shine a ten minute light in their eyes...

9. Turned it off. And I have another issue to deal with MSNBC on...
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 09:02 AM by Ilsa
For two nights now, I've had interruptions of Countdown (black screen) and The Rachel Maddow Show (pre-empted with candidate biographies for three hours). No one at Suddenlink seems to know what is going on. They insist it is a "network decision" but can't explain why my local feed is like this when everyone else getting Suddenlink cable in Texas is getting regular programming. They suggest I go to my local cable office to talk to the clerks that handle the cable boxes.

16. Something is going on
We have cable and my election site page kept saying "error" when I tried to look up our voting place, my phone had a high pitched squealing noise when I called the DNC Chair in this area. Our internet email was down all on Primary Day. Cable Company did not know what was wrong and denied anything was wrong. Finally after contacting computer and program related companies, was told it might have been hacked. Was odd since the only site besides email I could not log into was this one. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

19. I can't stand it, but I'm going to play devil's advocate
My husband is watching it. On MSNBC. Not only that, he's been planning to watch it for over a week. He will watch more coverage of 9/11 tonight. He is the type of person who watches the Science Channel and the History Channel all night and reads applied physics books and evolution theory books for fun.

He doesn't like Bush/Cheney, he thinks we should leave Iraq and he's voting for Obama.

But he loves to commemorate 9/11 by watching the footage.

I tried to explain to him that it could be damaging to his mental health.

He responded that he wants to relive the morning and the way the events unfolded so that he will never forget.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I'm not gonna watch it. The five minutes I saw made me feel awful.

which also happened, coincidentally, on 9/11? I'm being manipulated!

27. Election year coverage.
9/11 was memorialized last year, as in previous years, but this year's coverage has so far outpaced any since the 1st year memorial. IMO it is heavier even than the last election coverage.

Like KO said, it is now a trademarked talking point. Nothing more.
