Media's Anti Dean "open papers" con job -& ABCnote sells the con
Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 09:40 PM by papau
The media is running a Con Job implying that Dean's papers are locked up - while to review Bush's papers just go over to the Bush41 Presidential library and ask to see one of the 1800 boxes Bush has stored over there.

No one notes that the state archivist/Librarian must ask the Bush archivist/librarian for the document and then must review each sheet of paper for state Public Information Act (open document law)"exemptions" (and there are many).

Texas law requires that the public have access to records of past Governors, and the Texas attorney general has ruled that the state
still owns the papers and that the public must be given access.

So, apparently the Bush papers are "available". yeah - right.

The media is telling lies in trying to sell "easily available Bush papers" compared to "Dean papers are locked up" - why am I not surprised?

Rove tells New York Times that the state Public Information Act governs the 1,800 boxes of documents/records Bush placed into the care of the George Bush Library, the presidential library at Texas A&M University - and The New York Times reprints - and the ABCNote makes it sound like Bush is being open - and Dean is not.

However, no one to my knowledge has been able to walk in and look at those records. And indeed of the requests made to date, no one has reported that they have recieved the documents they were looking for. Sorry folks, the archivists/Librarian reviews each sheet of paper in the 1800 boxes to see if it qualifies for one of the many legal "exemptions" - and if it does, it is not released.

So how do you request a specific document without having seen it before - well you don't! You can however submit an open-records request for information and hope the archivists/Librarian "understands" the request, hands it off to the Bush41 library and they understand the request, they find the document(s) and send them back to the State, and the state Librarian reviews each sheet and agrees each sheet is NOT covered by one of the exemptions - and then deems that you can see it.

Good luck getting any info before 2008.

1. You know, if it was anyone else I would be worried,
but I think Dean and Trippi can handle this, and probably stuff it down their throats. The Pukes are going to have to do better than this.

2. I think you are correct-but a slap down to the wise ass ABCnote is overdue
Today the ABCNote was saying "of course" to questions they asked themselves that suggested Dean is wrong when he says "show me yours and I'll show you mine" to Bush/Rove bull shit about open records, and how open the Bush records are.
