Pacifica Radio's Democracy Now, a cd burner, and YOU are the MEDIA
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 09:50 AM by T Bone
Make yourself the media !!

http://www.pacifica.org/programs/dn/recentshows.html

I am on a tear, I have downloaded the 10/13 show with Howard Zinn and the 10/15 show with Michael Moore. I have burned them to cd audio and plan to start BEING the MEDIA by making sure the truth in them gets out to as many people I can afford to give them to, and at 10 cents a cd/case, that should end up being quite a few.

I plan to start supporting Pacifica Radio with monetary donations.
I am going to look at getting time slots on local cable access to replay their shows !! That's my plan. Think about it for yourself too.

We can start a movement, spread the truth, take back our government, and change the world !!

Home page for Pacifica is:
http://pacifica.org/

I am telling you this an excellent resource. We have to help spread it by any means possible.

Thanks to whichever DUer originally included a link to it in a post !!

2. I'll buy your CDs! How much?
can you mail them to me?

There was a Michael Parenti speech on Pacifica about 3 weeks ago.

How can I get that one??

Bravo to your movement! Perhaps these should be sent to local radio stations en masse? I'm on board, T Bone!

3. I couldn't sell them
but I could share them I suppose, which is my plan-- to spread them at libraries, banks, grocery stores, anyplace I can find an information kiosk with a bracket that will hold them.

4. While you're at it, ask Amy Goodman why...
She is unwilling to question the Official Story Conspiracy Theory of 9/11. I think it's for one (or more) of these reasons:

1.) She's wants to be a media star, and therefore isn't willing to do something that might get her labeled as a "conspiracy theorist" or nut.

2.) She wants to be able to claim she's "independent."

3.) Pacifica is beholden to "special interest" grants from the Ford Foundation, which has close ties to the C.I.A..

The above are also the main reasons why "The Nation", "The Progressive", "Counterpunch", and "FAIR" won't challenge the Official Conspiracy Theory of how a sick C.I.A. "asset" who is on dialysis for his failed kidney - could have even conceivably plotted and carried out the attacks while living in a cave somewhere in Afghanistan.

5. no - Amy is one of the good guys...
...no doubt about it.

And she's had numerous guests on her show who question what was behind 9/11, including, recently, Michael Moore (the last sentence in your post was almost verbatim MM speaking on Amy's show).

6. The DISH NETWORK and FSTV
If you have a DISH NETWORK satellite dish, you can watch Democracy Now on the FSTV (Free Speech TV) channel at 8 AM and 7 PM weekdays. I have recorded several shows on my VCR.

7. Wonderful Idea
Are you printing up nice labels for them, and putting them in clear sleeves?

8. clear cases
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 10:36 PM by T Bone
but I will be writing on them with a CD marker, maybe printing some info to slide in the case too. I don't 'do' labels 'on' cds.

That's my plan for now.

I don't know about Amy Goodman shying away from 911 questioning but she sure was letting Michael Moore spill all the questions he wanted last week. Just as good for now.

9. Hurray! Someone else gets it!
I've been on a lonely quest to do just what TBone is trying to do.

When confronted with the imposing wall of corporate media, most people on the Left simply assume it's like the weather, that there's nothing that can be done about it. Every once in a while someone wistfully dreams about a world where there are liberal TV channels and radio stations to stand up for our views, but before long the subject drifts off to something else.

Here's the thing : we don't need TV and radio networks! The majority of people with computers these days have CD burners, and many people now have DVD burners. How does Joe Sixpack get most of his media content these days? He listens to his music from CD's and now watches his movies and "TV shows" on DVD! The tide is turning against centralized corporate media, and those of us with CD- and DVD-burners can be the agents of their downfall, if only everyone will snap out of their trance and put 2 and 2 together.

How powerful is disk copying? Say I make 2 copies of a disk on day 1, and then give it someone else who does the same on day 2. Say this pattern continues - in just three weeks there would be over a MILLION copies of this one disk. Again, who needs TV and radio networks? We can easily make our own! Why spend a million dollars to put a radio broadcasting tower and studio in, say, rural Nebraska, when a cheap stack of disks and a computer can accomplish the same thing?

I encourage everyone to visit the Creative Commons site. A disk network requires content that can be freely distributed, like Bev Harris and Plan9 are doing with the BBV book, and CC is the best place to start. If you are a photographer, filmmaker, writer, or musician, please consider what contribution you can make the commonweal by releasing your works in this manner.
