File an FCC Complaint about Laura Bush!
From BigTimePatriot.com

File your FCC complaint against Laura Bush...

If man on animal sex (horse masturbation) jokes on a public CSPAN broadcast aren't indecency, what is?

Now some might argue that the FCC might not cover this because CSPAN is a cable channel. So be sure and include in your complaints that the FCC should expand its mandate to cover these types of outrages whether they are on broadcast OR cable TV.

Here is where to find out information about how to make a complaint http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/obscene.html

Maybe we should be alerting the American Family Association (AFA) for their aid in fighting this case of broadcast obscenity? http://www.afa.net/entertainment/

In fact, following the AFA's lead, perhaps we can adapt the form letter they suggested for the Janet Jackson incident? Feel free to use this language to write an FCC complaint protesting the evil Republican filth machine that IS Laura Bush:

Federal Communications Commission
Enforcement Bureau
Investigation and Hearings Division
445 12th Street, S.W. Rm. 3B443
Washington, DC 20554

Dear Sir or Madam:

The Communications Act states, Whoever utters any obscene, indecent, or profane language by means of radio communication shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

In addition, the FCC has defined broadcast indecency as language or material that, in context, depicts or describes, in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium, sexual or excretory organs or activities.

On the evening of April 30, 2004, CSPAN broadcast the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner Saturday night. This broadcast featured a perfectly obvious reference by the First Lady, Laura Bush, to man on animal sex, specifically a human manually manipulating a horse's penis. This broadcast was patently offensive and violated contemporary community broadcast standards. I demand that CSPAN be fined the maximum amount for each indecency violation.

I hereby request the Federal Communications Commission conduct an official investigation of CSPAN for broadcast indecency.

Please notify me of the action taken regarding this complaint.

Sincerely,
(put your name here)

2. C-SPAN AND THE TV RATINGS SYSTEM
C-SPAN AND THE TV RATINGS SYSTEM
http://www.cspan.org/about/ratings/ratings.asp

You may have noticed that unlike programs on many other television networks, C-SPAN's programs do not have TV content ratings such as TV-Y (All Children), TV-G (General Audience) or TV-MA (Mature Audience Only). These ratings usually appear at the beginning of programs on a full-screen, then later in the upper left corner of the screen.

C-SPAN programs do not have such ratings because news programs are exempt from the rating systems set up by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. All sports programs are also exempt.

All sports programs are exempt? Then what about Janet Jackson's Superbowl half-time show?

The TV content ratings system was developed in conjunction with the V-chip technology, which was designed to help parents control which programs their children would be able to watch. The newer television sets contain an electronic chip programmed to block programs with ratings selected as inappropriate by parents. The rating system is part of the cable television industry's education effort to help consumers control the television programming that enters their homes.

3. If you also check the obscenity rules...
... they apply to over-the-air broadcasting. At present, cable is not subject to those FCC rules, although there is a bill in Congress to do just that. So, if you complain about a cable-only show, the FCC can't respond to that complaint. Moreover, you give ammunition to those in Congress who wish to make those rules apply to cable and satellite.

Cheers.

4. The LAST THING I want is the Repug-Driven FCC "Censoring" CSPAN
At this point, CSPAN is the only place I can go to see Democrats talking and acting in the House and Senate -- and kicking Repuglican butt.

If the FCC gets involved, then you just know that DEMOCRATS WILL BE BANNED FROM CSPAN.

I'm not so sure you want to go in this direction, as is Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska. FCC has jurisdiction over the public airwaves. It does not have jurisdiction over cable or sattelite content, yet.

Let's keep it that way.

I believe it would be better to write a letter to Laura Bush. I will be doing so, and telling her that I was watching the program with my 14 year old son and had a bit of explaining to do.

So much for family values.

to keep their noses OUT of meddling with Cable/Sat.
