Fox's Wilson presented DeLay talking points without rebuttal
In a report on House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), Fox News correspondent Brian Wilson presented DeLay's own misleading talking points without rebuttal. Displaying a graphic of "bullet points" taken directly from "an email DeLay sent to his supporters in the Houston area entitled 'What the press isn't telling you,' " Wilson repeated DeLay's claim that he is being targeted by "a left-wing syndicate." But Wilson failed to note that several prominent Republicans and editorials by numerous newspapers that endorsed President Bush in 2004 have also criticized DeLay. Wilson also left unrebutted DeLay's misleading charge that the Texas district attorney investigating contributions to his political action committee is "a liberal, a leftist." <snip>

1. yesterday on NPR
there was a piece about DeLay's home district. Many of the Republicans there expressed disgust for DeLay, among them a precinct committeewoman. Guess some folks have stopped listening to
Faux.

3. They are so pathetic. It sounds like the Jeff Gannon style of
journalism is right at home on Faux.

But, then, it isn't like I didn't know that already.

5. Hey, it's FOX, they just make shit up....
and call it "news". They're a wholly owned subsidiary of the bush administration and will do ANYTHING, save being "fair and balanced", to protect their golden goose, george bush.

How this can be the top rated 24 hour "news channel" is beyond me. I guess it's an indictment on American's stupidity and sheer lack of intellectual curiosity. American's LOVE being told what to do and how to think. It saves them lots of time so they can devote more to, "American Idol". :eyes:

14. I think that fox is the top-rated
news because smart people like us quit watching news programs altogether and choose to get real news from other places like DU. It's mostly Repukes that watch Fox, and Repukes are not smart enough to stop watching and are too lazy to go out and search for the truth. Therefore, that makes the majority of TV news watchers Repukes, giving Fox the number one rating. Maybe???

16. I know alot of people who watch Fox News...
Although people in DU expend time and energy to keep up with what's going on in the world, alot of people don't. They like the news to be quick and easy, and most of all, they like to be entertained.

17. True - people do like to be entertained,
but for me, Fox certainly isn't entertainment. I can't even stand to read the words "Fox", little lone be entertained by them!!! uggghh!!

7. Common if TV says that it is "Fair and Balanced" then it must be
TV wouldn't lie would it??

The people that make FOX news number one news are retard and they get everything they deserve including choking on their big macs.

12. I'd just like to know, when does this sort of thing cross the line?
What I mean is, how much further would they FOX have to go before they can be sued for presenting Lies as News? Or have the RePukes already shredded those laws?

15. I'd like to know this, too.
Legally, can news programs just tell outright lies? How about newspapers? I know that there are supposed to be journalistic "ethics" and that the NY Times fired somebody who was not "ethical", but are there laws to protect consumers from being outright lied to?

19. I have heard a court decided
that not everything Fox presents as news has to be true. Someone actually sued them over some lie they were propogating and lost. In essence, a court decided they can spread lies on TV and present it as fact. No link, I read that on this site a while back.
