Media lies of the day -a shorten list (w Russ lecture to Afghans on Truth!
folks - media maters is doing a great job following the daily media lies (granted that means mostly following Fox, Rush, Ann, and Fund and other WSJ stars daily with an occassional note about MSM being afraid to note that while folks have a right to an opinion, no one has a right their own set of "facts")

Below is a few from today's list (I am off to play with grandkids through 3/11 - so lack of posting these in the next 10 days will not mean the MSM has gone legit !!!)

Novak misquoted Dean for second time in three days

Syndicated columnist and CNN host Robert Novak again misquoted Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean in order to assert that Dean believes the Bush administration's claim that Social Security is in crisis. Novak first made this false claim http://mediamatters.org/static/video/capgang-200502280003.wmv on the February 26 edition of CNN's The Capital Gang

NY Daily News distorted Biden's views on use of filibuster

In a February 28 article http://www.nydailynews.com/02-28-2005/news/wn_report/story/285145p-244247c.html, the New York Daily News amended and took out of context a remark made by Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-DE) on NBC's Meet the Press to falsely suggest that Biden believes "Democrats should allow up or down floor votes on Bush's nominees" in all cases. In fact, Biden reiterated his position opposing the use of filibusters to block judicial nominees merely because they are conservative, but supporting the right to filibuster nominees who do not have "a judicial temperament."

In Afghanistan, Limbaugh lectured students on importance of "truth" in journalism

Once again ( http://mediamatters.org/items/200502230009 Limbaugh brought his Democrat-bashing to U.S. troops in Afghanistan) calling into his radio program from Afghanistan, where he is working at the request of the federal government to highlight U.S. relief efforts ( http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N17299126.htm Limbaugh to visit Afghanistan with US aid official - Reuters), nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh lectured students on journalistic standards ( http://mediamatters.org/items/200503010002 ) In Afghanistan, Limbaugh lectured students on importance of "truth" in journalism..Once again calling into his radio program from Afghanistan, where he is working at the request of the federal government to highlight U.S. relief efforts, nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh lectured students on journalistic standards. Recounting a meeting with students at a "journalist training program," Limbaugh noted that he told the aspiring journalists: "The best thing you can learn about journalism is truth."

- who is paying for Limbaugh's trip to Afghanistan, and why is no progressive traveling with him as a counterpoint?
