I posted about it on my blog (
http://ltradio.blogspot.com) a while back but can't seem to find it at the moment. Unfortunately, they're trying to petition the top conservative talker in town (actually, the #1 station in town), and Dumbya will post on DU before that station picks up AAR.
A better idea is to contact the owners of some of the crappier stations in town. If there's a decent AM signal in town that's playing formats like sattelite-fed classic country, oldies, third-tier talk shows (i.e. Liddy, Imus), CNN Headline News or all-business, then likely that station isn't doing much. Take the initiative and round up a decent-sized list of business that would possibly commit to airing this kind of programming. Think that wouldn't get their attention? Maybe drop a letter to the program director or GM. It's likely that nothing may come of it, but who knows?
Also, I wouldn't waste time with the big conservative talkers in town. Let's face it, there's no way stations like WLS, KFI, WISN, WLW, etc. will drop everything and pick up AAR. These stations are doing very well with what they have, and if it ain't broken, why fix it? Also, leave the Salem-owned stations alone. Salem is just to the right of Sinclair, and programs religious and conservative talk (Bill Bennett, Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, etc.) on their many stations. They likely won't touch AAR. Many stations that air religious or brokered programming make good money just by renting air time. They'd only flip to AAR if the ratings would prove to be really good. As it stands, many of them are making great money doing timeshare radio.
