Because they were nearly last and they got beat by ...get this...
CBS...Dan and company was almost number one...I thought their ratings were tanking over the memo scandal

NBC averaged a 9.5 rating/15 share for the whole of primetime, beating out CBS' 9.1/14 (for the ad-filled part of the night, 8-9 and 10:30-11 p.m. ET, CBS averaged 9.5/15 and NBC 8.8/14). ABC was third at 5.8/9. FOX and UPN tied for fourth at 2.8/4, while The WB came in at 1.8/3.
There was a virtual tie for the lead among adults 18-49, with NBC scoring a 5.5 rating for the entire night and CBS a 5.4. (In the ad-supported part of primetime, CBS averaged 5.7 and NBC 5.2) ABC finished third in the demographic at 2.8, followed by FOX, 1.9; UPN, 1.4; and The WB, 1.1.

It appears the viewers are seeing through their "fair and balanced" bullshit.
