Pundits have no incentive to tell the truth

Pundits paid thousands and millions of dollars
have no incentive to tell the truth if they
aren't directed that way by their own consciences
or by a news director and owner. To keep their
paychecks coming in, they follow orders...whether
or not they mouth the words off a teleprompter or
make the conversation go in a certain direction,
they are directed from behind the scenes.

Pundits and journalists have no incentive to tell the
truth unless their moral code insists that they will and
in that case they have to insist on that from the get-go
inside a medium that allows them to do that.

We have too many broadcast and print owners who want
to skew the "news" to help corporations and administrations support
loosening the rules to help their bottom liness.

There are few I can think of who still write and broadcast
the truth, in real danger of losing their positions but
fear losing this idea of America even more. I salute those
people, like Bill Moyers, Lou Dobbs (more recently)
Paul Krugman, Nick Kristoff (usually), the Air America radio
hosts, liberal Internet bloggers & webhosts (who work for peanuts),
Molly Ivins, Jim Hightower et al.

I really think we need to address the owners and news heads
more directly, rather than keep hammering the pundits who
have no real power. Hold the owners and newsheads more
responsible for what we see on the air...hold the corporations
who own them accountable for the bottom feeder tone in this
country right now.
Write letters to them, make calls, stand outside with protest signs,
write letters to the editor et al.

1. You're right
We need to spend more time holding the owner's feet to the fire and demand they report news, not spin.

2. The pundits showed their "worth" when they projected.....
Howard Dean as the Democratic Candidate. Look how that turned out.
