James Carroll on Franken show today (Tues)
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 01:29 PM by realFedUp
He's making the same point I made shortly
after 9/11....that the bombing of the WTC
was a crime and what should have happened
was a quick international effort by policing
and intelligence agencies to go after the
criminals, not bomb the hell out of
Afghanistan. The intelligence would have
routed out more responsible parties in
Saudi Arabia and other countries holding
bin Laden and the Taliban, including
Pakistan. We would have the support of the
whole world then.

Franken can't wrap his brain around this
concept....

He is a Boston Globe columnist and the author of

Damn, I hope he's a poster at DU :-)

2. he's making a lot of really cogent points.

*'s bullying simplistic rhetoric and policies have trashed the "statecraft" and treaties based on international law established by the U.S. since WWII.

Heard the same thing from Ambassador Freeman (Amb. to Saudi Arabia under GHWB) on Sunday.

3. The groupthink at the time....
was automatically that bin Laden did these actions
and that he was in Afghanistan and we'd have to
unload every munition to kill him. I don't think
Bush even had to push that war very hard....did
anyone in Congress resist these actions?

4. Can we get this guy on more shows?
He speaks slowly, so don't put him on
the Tweety show....
