Another case of treason falls off of the media radar?
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 05:50 AM by necso
Some time ago it was revealed that one of this country's most closely guarded secrets (as in, "should have been") was revealed (sold) by Chalabi to the Iranians.

He could only have gotten this information from one of the "neos" in the administration -- possibly a person who should not even have had it. Besides revealing the macho, posturing, heedless, "information-is-power-and-I-am-a-big-man" nature of this administration, this is pretty clearly treason. While a macho buzz was all the reward that the person revealing this secret to Chalabi seems to have gotten (although one wonders), this does not diminish the terrible nature of the crime -- or the harm done to this country's interests.

But the story sure seems to have followed all the other stories about this administration's crimes and malfeasances to the trashbin.

Is our mass media that dysfunctional --- or are all the major players just too cowardly, weak and soft to do anything --- or are they being actually threatened?

I am guessing that most players, at least those who aren't out-and-out flunkies, are just too scared, because life is sweet for them and they have a lot to lose. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were being directly threatened --- it would be like the neos, both inside of and outside of the government.

Perhaps some day we will learn the truth, but then again, they would probably rather just forget about it. Talking about one's failures and cowardice is never a flattering conversation, and, after all, most of what they have to sell is simply their image. This won't be quite so attractive if their story gets (truthfully) told.

1. Is our mass media that dysfunctional?
So many are caught up in the grips of terrah... that the system that is supposed to apply checks and balances... has been effectively paralyzed. Too bad for the country.... and the cities too. :)

2. We have no effective news media.
Major stories are "reported" once. Usually without any context. And never followed up. The real problem is that all the branches of government are in the control of a single party. Therefore there are no hearings or investigations into the actions of this administration. If fairness the media cannot realistically do this. Even if they wanted to. And they don't.

4. Thank whoever is responsible
for the internet.... cuz... everything flies in here... and don't think that people aren't reading it... especially the blogs... and don't think that truth won't help some head in the sand types find their consciences... and eventually their backbones.... it is only a matter of time... and don't think that junior and his ilk don't know this.

I listened to Ben Stein... Cheney is not the enemy... Bush is not the enemy... well howdy... how come all of a sudden a Vietnam war vet is the "enemy"????? Can you see the double standards.. the total hypocrisy.. the ludicrous nature of the average RW pundit???

Anyone is an enemy of sorts of America if they:

A: Raid the treasury

B: Give away contracts to corporations that (a.) are tied to the WH (b.) commit tremendous corrupt actions with taxpayers dollars (c.) don't provide our troops with what they promised and (d.) are war profiteers

C: Shortchange the military on wages and healthcare

D: Sign off on toture that has made America the single most hated nation on earth... thereby ensuring continued terrorist recruitment and acts of terrorism against Americans

E: Allow private corporations to write energy policy... then hide the evidence of such actions

F: Cut short FBI investigations into the Saudi Bin Laden connections prior to 911

G: Lose 3 million jobs.. and encourage the outsourcing of American labor

H: Back out of the ABM treaty thus creating a rush to obtain and develop nuclear weapons

I: Wage war on our environment and air quality which is a direct war on the lungs of children all over America

J: Blank out 28 pages of a report that dealt with the Saudi connection and 911

K: Give tax breaks to the richest 2% of Americans while the rest of us go fish

L: Piss off ALL of our allies

M: Claim that dems are "unpatriotic" because they have a different point of view on how things should be done

N: Claim to be decreasing the size of government while they continue to privatize major parts of the military.... no real change... unless you consider that Halliburton being able to swindle the American taxpayer to be a plus... couldn't happen if these services weren't privatized.

O: Are signatories of the PNAC

P: Think that they can do whatever to whomever, wherever they please

Q: Play games with the constitution... something that is unforgiveable (sp)

R: Put your children, their children and their children in debt up to their eyeballs

S: Start screwing with social security

T: Underequip the boys that were sent over there... with many of them without body armor... and or armored Humvees

U: Have shaken the hand of Saddam Hussein in better times.

V: Have helped overthrow popular uprisings against intolerable regimes the world over

W: Promote hypocritical extreme RW pundits such as Rush Limbaugh

X: Fight the creation of the 911 commision

Y: Fight the recommendations of the 911 commision

Z: Wage open war on what they refer to as "liberals" when half or better of the troops fighting to "protect" our country.... are most likely "liberals" in nature.

5. If it wasn't for the internet we would be almost totally ignorant.
Makes you almost believe in divine intervention.

6. And when they're
corporate masters are making big bucks in the military-industrial complex arena, they just shut up and do what they're told.

Unbelievable!
