1. Where did you hear that?
If he did run that would make another race competetive. But that would only happen if Nickles retired.

3. Nickles isn't sure he's running....
I think its a scam to see if they can draw carson into the race. Oklahoma is too conservitive right now and I'm not sure Carson would win state wide. Carson is my rep. and He is well liked as far as I know, but this part of the state is the more democratic side so his big problem will be tulsa and Okla City. Be nice to get rid of Nickles and Inhoff...both are real horse's asses.

4. Yeah
I've heard that Nickles has not been raising a lot of money recently. But I am not sure if Carson would be the best candidate. I think that AG Drew Edmonson might be more compelling. But I don't live there, so what do I know?

6. Here's what really pisses me off
The Democrats had a much better chance of getting rid of Inhoff in 2002 than Nickles. Even Republicans hate Inhoff. Unfortunately we ran a flawed ex-governor.

Liberals here don't like Carson too much, but I guess he has to walk a fine line being the only Democrat in Congress (from OK)

When Carson first ran some people were saying he would be the next super-star a la Clinton. He got tons of money from rich Tulsa Democrats that weren't even in his district ( I know two of them personally). They are a bit disappointed.

8. Yes, both of them are "asses" but...
I'd have to say that Inhofe is the bigger of the two.

5. If Nickles runs again, this race is already done
but Carson's probably one of the best candidates if he doesn't run. He's too conservative for my tastes, but still astronomically better than Nickles. It also means poor Oklahoma would no longer have the two absolutely dead worst senators in the country.

9. Actually my friend..
The state of Colorado has the 2 worst Senators in the entire country. Both mindlessly follow the extreme right-wing of the republican party. One because he is too stupid to know any better and the other because he got his feelings hurt by the state Democratic Party so he decided to become a republican. Both do absolutely nothing until about a year to a year and a half before election time and then they decide to start making cute sound bites and proposing ridiculous legislation just so they can show the voters how much they have "accomplished". Then once they have been re-elected they disappear again but still vote nearly 100% of the time with the extreme right-wing. I hope and pray either Wellington Webb, Ken Salazar, or Mark Udall runs against Campbell next year. That's just about the only way we would have a shot at knocking him off. I think the chances of any of them running are slim though. Back to Oklahoma, is David Walters considering a run? I know he got swamped by Inhoffe last year, but from what I saw he seemed like an impressive candidate. He came off well in the 2 debates I watched. I know he had some troubles at the end of his term as Governor, something about campaign contributions if I remember correctly, but I think he would make a good Senator.

10. Yes Walters would be a good Senator but...
a terrible candidate. He just has too much baggage. I can't think of anyone who would be better than Carson at this moment except Barry Switzer!! :-)

7. That would be great if Nickles retired...
which is a distinct possibility.

11. last I heard

Jim Istook will run if Nickles doesn't. I'd guess that despite hedging Nickles is retiring. He seems not to have denied it.

Yeah, Carson should wait until Oklahoma feels more of a national thaw. But there's an obvious replacement for him in the House in a state senator, Maas by name if I recall correctly, who ran very well against him in the 2002 Democratic primary.
