WA Senate: Republicans find challenger for Murray (not Nethercutt)
By Bob Young
Seattle Times staff reporter

Republicans have found a challenger to U.S. Sen. Patty Murray — at least on paper.

Reed Davis, a Seattle Pacific University political science professor and former chairman of the King County Republican Party, has filed reports required for a Senate run with the Federal Election Commission.

Davis' campaign has raised $1,406. Rob Crowther, a member of his campaign steering committee, said he "fully expects Reed to be a candidate" in 2004.

But Davis has not formally announced his Senate bid. He is in France and could not be reached for comment.

1. I don't know the guy
But if he's from King County he might be able to draw some more votes away than the Republicans normally do. That would be bad. Remember in 2000 Cantwell lost almost every county but because she had such a gigantic lead in King, that she was able to make up for it.
