Kerry on MTV News (footage of him playing hockey)
There's also a quick interview about Kerry's plan to provide public university scholarships to young people who complete two years of public service.

1. Wow
My husband and I watched this and said "wow" at the same time when we heard the description of Kerry's idea for public service. I knew that he wanted a program that would fund college for people who complete 2 years of service, but to be able to use the money to make a down payment on a home. I have already finished college and I would serve for a couple years, if it meant I could help buy a home for my family.

2. I'm So Glad This Is Getting Out
Kerry is offering all kinds of non-military ways to earn tuition through service. I think that should be a message to take to the minority communities especially, considering that minorities disproportionately join the Armed Forces to escape poverty.

4. Or start a business,
pay for trade school or pay off a student loan you already have. He also wants to increase the peace corps to 25,000 from it's current 7,000 which is less than we had in the 60's. We've got the military in 140 countries and peace corps in 69, no wonder foreign people have a bad impression of America. It would be nice to be a country of generosity and hope again.

6. I didn't know about that part.
Sounds reasonable AND hopeful.

3. Good to hear he is trying to tap into the Gen X & Yers
which Dean has been doing a good job at gaining.
