Do any of you tire of campaigning?
Right now I feel like I am being pulled in a million directions and in spite of the fact that I have a full time job and family (small kids too)...I try my best...but its never good enough...ugh!!!

I have very tough skin but sometimes I could just scream.

I wish I didn't have to work but I do and it makes it hard because a lot of the work that needs to get done is computerized and I am one of the few people who can help...but with a job and kids I can't give too much...but then I feel guilty...

What we need is more volunteers but as we all know...lots of people want to help but scatter when its time to roll up the sleeves and work.

How does everyone balance it?

1. sure i do, sometimes...
what I grow tired of is wasting my time to watch debates in the hope I will become more informed, and as a result I hear the same canned responses the candidates have used in previous debates and speeches. It wouldn't be so bad if we could have more than just some token substance whenever a new story breaks.

No logical process of their own, no abstract thought in a debate or discussion...just soundbites, watered down policy, and bs written up by the speechmasters.

For me the agony of everyday life is all that makes our comedy of politics endurable.

2. We (the electorate) are pretty smart...
But politicians in general don't seem to recognize that. Honestly, if one of the dems got up there with a bar chart and some figures, I wouldn't be confused, I'd be impressed and interested. I mean, I really don't understand some of these issues (like health care) but I think most of us have a decent enough handle on the issues that we can grasp it.

4. Perot
I actually appeciated Perot's charts and graphs. He may have been a little nutty but he sure made the deficit relevant.

3. Yes, definitely....
But then I remember some of the key issues I feel so strongly about and it usually seems worth it.

Sometimes it seems like it just comes down to pleading with your known supporters to show up at the polls.

On the other hand, I have met wonderful wonderful people campaigning and wouldn't give that up for anything.

7. My experience is that volunteers are usually the best campaigners
The paid staff of most candidates and parties are usually completely incompetant.
