5. plus one
I just signed up. I'm still not fully committing to one candidate over another but all the GOP attacks against Dean, the 'we want him because we can beat him' rhetoric, has raised my ire. I so desperately want to see Dean and Bush in a debate that it makes be bounce gleefully. I think it would be Bush who'd blow his cool before Dean did.

14. Some advice for the Meetups
I have to believe that Dean Meetups, because they are run
by volunteers, are run a bit differently in each city. I
had a friend who went to the last one and complained that
there was little discussion of Dean's positions and an
automatic assumption that everyone there was planning on
voting for Dean. People are going to Meetups to find out more about him and where he stands. No assumptions should be made. Every
single meeting should start with a video with him speaking
and introducing himself...his family, his passions. A
position paper should be passed out to everyone, even if
they've received it before. Anyone who isn't connected to the
Internet, should not be made to feel out of the loop...there
needs to be a phone tree set up in each city to call those
who aren't connected. These Meetups, if they are poorly run,
will eventually reflect on Dean himself.
Anyway, my two bits.

15. Good points realFedUp
And I think that those issues need to be brought up with the campaign locally and nationally. Send them some e-mail. This campaign pays attention to the people. I know for a fact that the Austin, TX meet ups are in fact locally coordinated. Last month we had a goal with the "Adopt an Iowan" campaign, but there was no general intro for new attendees. So that's a good point that needs to be made at each event. Everyonewho comes to one of these can bring that up. If you bring someone new to an event or see someone there who is just coming for the first time, adopt them too. Tell them why you support him. We had about 6 people at our table and we each introduced ourselves and said how we decided to be there. If there had been a person who had never heard Dean or knew very much I'm sure the rest of us would have jumped right in to help. There was plenty of printed literature from the campaign, at the very least you could recommend that be available at your Meet Up to help.

Sonia

18. Congrats To The Dean Campaign!
As a Kerry supporter, I still find this very impressive and a glimpse at the future of grassroots politics.

For Deanies interested, check out an old political novel called The Last Hurrah. You won't be disappointed.
