1. Is Dean Functionally BiLingual?
I hope that he is. Maybe he and Bush can have a debate in Spanish.

2. That would rock...
I hate it when Bush speaks a phrase or two in Spanish then smirks like he really knows the language. He says things incorrectly, uses the wrong tense, and in general doesn't have a better grasp on it then a high schooler taking his second year of it - a lazy, stupid high schooler that is.

18. Bush is bignorant
instead of bilingual. He is equally illiterate in both English and Spanish. Credit where credit is due that is a Molly Ivins line.

8. That would rock
if Dean is fluent in spanish he maybe could propose a debate with Bush where they both speak spanish. Bush likes to pretend he is fluent in the language so lets see.

3. Ha yeah! Right on B*sh's alleged home turf!
I heard El Shrubo's actual Spanish ability was pathetic at best, now here's Doc Dean rolling straight into his alleged home turf and smacking one right out of the park.

I haven't allowed myself much optimism in the past three years, but I got a feeling about this Dean guy. I'm daring to hope again.

5. Dean habla Espanol? Por Supuesto!
They would have to bring up kay hutchinson in that article "hailing bush's no child left behind" which leaves a lot of children behind from what I've heard!

17. That paragraph seemed wildly out of place didn't it
it seemed way too much like an editor stuck it in to add what his freeper mind thought was "balance."

10. I was completely unaware
that Dean speaks Spanish. Kay Bailey Hutchison must have been sh*tting her pants when she heard Dean break out in a second language.

Dean=ganador

bush=perdedor

11. I really wanted to hear his speech to LCLR
Edited on Tue Jul-15-03 11:19 PM by sonias
But you had to register for the conference to get to see the speakers and that was $400. The workshops were free and I went to some of those.

Anyway the Austin Dean team did get some folks out for a greeting committee. We had about 40 people turn out to greet Howard Dean.
Around 8:00 am we went into the building and we were allowed on to the floor where the speeches were being made, just outside the room.
Kay Bailey Hutchinson (holding my nose now) was to speak first. I spoke to one Latina as she came out of the room and she said to me, "I'm hoping your candidate makes me feel better because Kay Bailey is making me want to throw up." We both laughed and I said to her "We've called the Doctor and he's on his way".

They let us go to another room where Dean was waiting to be brought into the conference room and we got to greet him there. We made some noise and he was really happy to see us. He said he knew he was in "Dean country" since he was the only political speaker that had a welcoming committee in Austin. He shook all our hands and signed autographs for a few. We had a WWII veteran named C.B. with us and Dean thanked him for coming and autographed his sign. C.B. said that meeting Dean was worth the effort for him. He has to use a walker and it's difficult for him to move around. It was very moving.

Dean visited 3 Texas cities in two days - Houston, Dallas and Austin and I hear he raised some $60,000 plus, mainly in Dallas.

Adelante con Dean!!

12. Only 2 languages?? Not a scholar--Check this guy out
Clark speaks at least 4 languages and several more partly. Perhaps they three of them can engage in a debate in Spanish, then French, then Italian, then German. . .

16. Oh MAN! That is freakin' wonderful! Another reason to love Dean.
God! I would love to see Dean propose a debate in Spanish, and then watch shrubbie squirm. "Bennie's Nachos, Ameegers!" does not constitute a knowledge of Spanish. Dean will wipe the floor with B*sh. Or maybe he should wipe the floor with Pickles; she's such a dishrag!
