Mc Cain Jeffords 2004!!!
<http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=108&topic_id=2804&mesg_id=2804&page=#2808>
I was thinking about Jeffords as a Democratic VP, then it hit me, McCain and Jeffords would be the perfect vote sucking team (that sounds kind of perverse). They would grab votes away from the Lesser Bush. A Perrot-like 3rd party could be helpful in defeating Shrub Cheney.

2. I have TREMENDOUS respect for Sen McCain
But we don't align politically. I say the same about Bob Dole. I actally like the man. He's a war hero without question, but politically, we'll never agree. EVER!

3. agree
Okay, so you don't agree with McCain, but if he's sucking Bush's votes does it really matter?

Hey, lets come together as DU and see if we can't get McCain to go vs. Bush! Even if McCain loses it will bloody the Lesser*, so the doctor just needs to perform an "operation"!

11. That bio is really good
I've heard McCain's story so many times over the years, but it is always hard to read. He did go thru some hell.

7. You mean, no Democrat runs, period?
Since neither McC or Jeff is a Dem, what exactly are you envisioning? I wouldn't McC running against W again in the primary, in fact it would be a blast to behold, but you don't run two people together until you own the ticket. So whom are you envisioning McC running against on the Democratic ticket, where you would vote for the Republican ticket?

I don't get it. Please explain it. Start with the primaries, please...

9. 3rd party McCain Jeffords
McC and Jeff run as 3rd party, Constitutional Law Party, Green, Reform, McJeff, ConservitiveNadereffect, the weaselmumps party, whatever they want to call their party. They run, suck off republican votes, Democrat wins even easier than before.
An alternitive plan would be to have either or both of them run against Bush as Republicans and bloody them up real good, or at least make him expend his money.
I'm just thinking we can win with any of the 9 fine soldiers we have in the field now, but if we have someone chipping away at Bush the lesser from the rear we have a better chance of winning.

on edit: saw post #9. Ok, fine, run McCain, Perot, Forbes, Buchanan, etc on a bunch of 3rd party tickets. Knock yourselves out. Split the right six ways from Sunday. Don't expect any of those to end up on the Dem ticket, though, by any means.

12. McCain and Jeffords
Yeah, I was just thinking of all the people I'd like to see picking off Bush's voters Jeffords and McCain seem like the best candidates to run a Nader/Perrot kind of spoiler campeign.
