Kerry Meet Up Thursday To Prepare Hellacious Bush Ass-Whomping
It is an exciting time for the Kerry campaign. After a summer of rope-a-dope and conserving resources, the Senator is in great shape to begin the real race. The marathon leg has come to an end, and now it is time for the full sprint. Kerry has recovered from his surgery, and he's full of piss and vinegar (a nice alternative to trickle-down economics).

In the immortal words of The Thing, "It's clobberin' time!" Kerry's going to be going after Bush where he lives, with enough gravitas to choke a cow. AWOL draft dodgers beware! Coke-head frat boys watch out! Harken crooks and Enron hookers duck! Chickenhawks kiss your ass goodbye!

<>

Join the Kerry camp on the eve of all hell a'breakin' loose! No commitments except to get down and funky! Check out what inevitability sounds like.

PS - Don't let the Dean crowd intimidate you! Foreman thought he was doing pretty good in the 4th round, too!

4. OK, I'm in the Dean Camp
Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 06:37 PM by clar
but I've long admired Kerry. However, that photo from his website does not set the right tone. It looks like it was taken straight from the pages of the Onion. In other words, a cariacture of the aristocratic New Englander. I've seen plenty of good pictures of Kerry talking or listening to people.

8. Too aloof
I like him just fine. He's a very attractive guy, but dig deeper and find a photo of him in jeans, a button down shirt with rolled up sleeves and docksiders, talking to someone.

10. THAT'S how I like to see a president.
Serious-minded and thoughtful.

Clinton had that look often. So did Gore, at times. I love it.

11. Kerry Is Not An Ordinary Person
I wouldn't want him to pretend he is something he is not. We live in extraordinary times, and I think we need someone with an extraordinary presence of mind to lead us through them.

Kerry's policies are populist. I don't want him to play-act the populist routine. I agree with the New Republic when they describe Kerry's honesty.

"At a Mason City, Iowa, bowling alley, he framed his background in the noblest political tradition: "George Bush went to a nice, fancy high school like I did, but I came out of my fancy high school asking the question, 'Why can't everybody have a school like this?'"

That hits all the right notes--candor about inherited wealth, noblesse oblige, and a concern for the broader national interest. The media frequently invoke Kerry's Brahmin heritage to suggest that he's culturally isolated from the electorate, but the honesty and civic-mindedness Kerry displayed yesterday are quintessentially American cultural virtues."

You don't have to be a "man of the people" to be a damn fine President.

18. You mean back when HE was the only attacking Bush
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 01:35 PM by blm
and his policies so aggressively? When the corporate media gave him little attention? When James Carville noted that Kerry speaks out most substantively against Bush?

But, but...the media has been telling us for months that Dean is the ONLY one who speaks out against Bush. Candy Crowley wouldn't lie to us, would she? Frank Luntz wouldn't lie would he?

which was ever handed out. Bush won't know which way he's spinning with all the hits coming from every direction. It is a sweet thought. Go Kerry! Go Democrats!

9. EXACTLY!!!!
Have Dean stirring things up in this direction, Kerry in that direction, Kucinich in still another direction, etc.

As I've said before, we might even have an enlivened democracy by the time November 2004 rolls around...

14. Dr. Funk...
Now THAT'S what I like!

Pump up your guy.

Gang tackle Bush.

May the candidate who most fires up the base, best lays waste to the BFEE and the Rove machine, and attracts the most positive attention to progressive issues, bread and butter issues, policy issues, and planning well for the future...win.

Strategy:

1) HAMMER Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, and etc.

2) Short, Sharp, heavy criticisms of current policy and practice.

3) Short, Sharp, Effective plans for the future, and for positive change

4) Clear, articulate, honest, and FRIENDLY discussion of differences with fellow Democrats:

Example: I respect and admire my opponents, however I fell that there are some important differences between their programs and my own. I feel that a constructive debate on these issues should clarify why my program is better, and why my opponents should change their stances, and why I should be the Democratic Nominee.

One thing is, about this election, is that in many ways I get the feeling that the actual program may not matter a whole lot. Sure that's a sad thing, and it should change, lest we descend even further into blow-dried personality dominated charisma fests...

However, let us be honest - my pet cat could come up with a better program than Bush...and the programs as outlined by the candidates are not that different on most issues...there are shades of difference, there are "nucances", but nothing like the overall difference between the Dems (Even Lieberman!) and the BFEE.

This election may just boil down to which candidate is most effective at slamming Bush and making it stick, in no uncertain terms, in language that resonates with many folks from many walks of life.

I know Dean can do this - he is doing it every day.

I THINK Kerry can do this -- I have seen him fire up admirably on several occasions...he MUST do it more.

I know Gephardt can do this -- his "mail a pink slip to the white house" campaign is really brilliant.

I KNOW sharpton can do this - the man is an oratorical genius.

I know Edwards can do this...but can he get the mic?

I am not so sure Lieberman can do this...but his "Leave No Tree Behind" quip was GREAT. Keep it up, Joe!

Carol Moseley-Braun - speak UP - GRAB that mic, DO IT, you say the words, you know the score, get more attention.

Graham? Goes without saying - calling for impeachment is a great way to get peoples' attention.

And, of course, Denis....he's got a lot of fire...perhaps he should smoke a few packs of cigarettes...errr...wait, he's for medical marijuana! Heh!

And Clark, well, he's had his sights on the Bushies for a while now...

And more on the way. This campaign is only starting. Let's not forget that. The Deaniacs will attack us but we know our candidate is the best man for the job. He's not just angry he is toughtful and has the policies and experience to prove it.

.....weren't you the guy claiming Meetup was not a standard to judge???

Granted, I like Kerry. But if you don't stop your double-speak and slamming everything else, you're not helping your candidate very much.
