Bush coming to laud Barbour



Presidential luncheon aims to raise $1.5 million for gubernatorial race

Mississippi Republicans this week will receive invitations to a Sept. 12 luncheon that brings President Bush to Jackson to raise campaign funds for GOP gubernatorial candidate Haley Barbour, GOP leaders said Wednesday.

Now booked for the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Jackson, the goal of the event is to raise $1.5 million for the Barbour campaign, said former state GOP chairman Mike Retzer, a Greenville businessman.
