I think Wes Clark will be on the ticket in '04
either as the presidential candidate or vice presidential candidate. That is if he runs. I think he will--at least he is giving every indication he will.

While I support Dean and think he has a good shot at winning the presidential nomination--I do think it is early and the nomination is still up for grabs. Clark will be a force to reckon with--for every campaign.

If Clark doesn't go all the way--getting the presidential nomination--I think he will do well enough in the primary season that he will be on everybody's short list for VP. I actually am beginning to think that a Clark/Dean or Dean/Clark ticket would be highly effective(because both of them have been consistent about Iraq) but then so would a Kerry/Clark, Edwards/Clark, Graham/Clark, Sharpton/Clark, Kucinich/Clark, Mosley Braun/Clark, Gephardt/Clark, and even Lieberman/Clark--(or turn each of those around)--in crushing Bush.

1. This isn't a flame or anything, but
isn't Clark wanted on war-crimes charges? I thought I heard this, and am surprised by all the Clark support if this is true. Info appreciated. Thanks.

3. I haven't heard about that
As stated I'm a Dean man, but I think Clark is also attracting alot of people who might otherwise not be part of the political process.

4. Uh, no
Clark isn't "wanted on war crimes charges." You've just overheard some of the hysterical rhetoric emanating from far right/far left websites.

11. UN ICC explicitly found "no evidence of NATO war crimes in Kosovo"
I got the proof right here:

U.N. prosecutor finds no evidence of NATO war crimes in Yugoslavia

And this is one of the few cases in which actually evaluating such charges was politically tenable, since the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia was right there.

5. link re: Clark and war-crimes
http://www.zpub.com/un/wanted1.html

I just did a google search and came up with this one (plus many more actually).

Maybe I should start a thread about this...it's sort of off topic from this thread.

7. Don't start a thread
with this as your source. In fact, don't start a source calling someone a war criminal unless you have solid evidence that he/she is.

8. The folks who disagreed with the whole Kosovo
attack, the Trent Lotts who could support their country but not their President (back when President wasn't typed pResident) were very vocal during the war that Clark used high altitude bombers to drop cluster bombs on targets.

Clark responded:
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/ops/2000/000608-kosovo1.htm
We very much regret civilian casualties, on all
sides. We especially regret the 10-thousand or
more Albanians who were murdered by the Serbs in
this campaign. And so I think you have to look
at the tragedy in balance. We did the absolute
minimum in terms of bombing to set right and
meet NATO's objectives. And we're all sorry
that any civilians died of any ethnic group, but
we did our best to prevent civilian casualties.
--snip--
It would be difficult for a military analyst to
believe that we caused more collateral
(civilian) damage by flying from a higher
altitude. The weapons we were delivering were
precise from that altitude. Secondly, its hard
for me to accept the proposition that there is
some sort of fair balance in war where we have
to let Americans die to prove that we're
sincere.
