This is NOT a Dean bash, but......
I keep getting spammed by his organization - under the titles "Dean for America" and "Gov. Howard Dean, MD".

I did not sign up to receive these e-mails and I HATE spam. If the objective is to garner more support, it will have the opposite effect with me. If I want to know about Howard Dean I'll read about him and listen to him when I choose.

1. Just unsubscribe.
I keep getting spammed by Kerry, and I never signed up. I signed up for Graham's mail.

If you don't want it just unsubscribe. They will honor it.

2. Actually, a lot of people have been receiving "Dean spam"
from bad e-mail companies that DFA fired, or from people pretending to be DFA.

I know Matt Gross isn't infallable, but I don't think they're trying to spam you.

5. When I saw him, he promised to only spam you at the end of the quarter
When the fundraising cycle is ending and he needs to hit a goal for more matching funds. So perhaps these are not bonafide emails.

6. I find it hard to believe.
I have signed up for a lot of his info and I never get "spammed." I occasionally get emails from them and sometimes people use the Dean Yahoo groups incorrectly and send emails to the whole group (but you would have to be in the group) instead of one person.

Why don't you just un-subscribe?

7. Dean campaign says it spammed
By Declan McCullagh
Staff Writer, CNET News.com
August 18, 2003, 11:41 AM PT

Howard Dean's presidential campaign acknowledged on Monday that it had spammed an undisclosed number of people with unsolicited political advertisements.

The campaign said Dean, the former Democratic governor of Vermont, remained opposed to unsolicited bulk e-mail and blamed the spamming on two contractors who had promised to contact only people who had specifically requested to receive the advertisements.

"We recently contracted with two vendors who made assurances that their lists were opt-in only," the campaign said in an e-mail to CNET News.com. "On Tuesday, August 12th, Dean for America received notification from a supporter that spam was being sent. We terminated our relationship with both vendors immediately."

The Dean campaign's bulk e-mail, which was sent last week, was disclosed by the Spamvertized.org Web site, which tracks political spam. The e-mail message touted Dean's accomplishments and asked for political support and donations, saying: "We are going to win this nomination and defeat George W. Bush in 2004, but we need your help."

Last week's spamming has the potential to embarrass a presidential campaign that both the media and its own campaign staff has touted as particularly Internet-savvy. A Newsweek cover story last week said Dean "is revolutionizing political fund-raising with his clever cyberstumping," while Dan Gillmor, a columnist for the San Jose Mercury News, proclaimed that Dean and his staff "truly get the meaning of the Net."

This is not the first time the Dean campaign has been embroiled in a controversy over spam. The campaign's Texas affiliate apologized earlier this year for spamming, saying "from now on, only people who personally sign up for our e-mail lists, contribute money, volunteer or sign a petition will receive e-mails from Dean for Texas."

Maybe this is why you got spammed.

9. maybe you should have put this paragraph in bold
"We recently contracted with two vendors who made assurances that their lists were opt-in only," the campaign said in an e-mail to CNET News.com. "On Tuesday, August 12th, Dean for America received notification from a supporter that spam was being sent. We terminated our relationship with both vendors immediately."

Unless, of course, you are an avowed Dean-hater.

10. I didn't add the bold; that is the subheadline.

By the way, you may think 'avowed Dean-hater' is some kind of telling commentary, however, it is no more than meaningless namecalling.

Real-Life Examples of Newspeak

A comparison to Newspeak can be seen in political rhetoric, where two opposing sides string together phrases so empty of meaning that they may be compared to the taunts young children toss back and forth. The arguments of either side ultimately reduce to "I'm good; he's bad."

8. DFA did recently have a problem with a company that spammed
which was against the terms of their contract. When it came to light they were immediately fired.

I've signed up for the Dean Campaign and I don't get too much mail from them.

Take a deep breath, and unsubscribe.

14. It is usually not a good idea
to use the unsubscribe links in spam, because it verifies to the spammers that this is a valid email address with a person reading the mail, making your address even more valuable for them to re-sell to other spammers.

11. I keep getting letters from Dick Gephardt
to contribute to his campaign. I can only imagine the reason I'm on his list is because I once made a contributino to the DCCC.
