John Edwards | Making of a candidate
Novice made quick mark in national politics
Eight new U.S. senators were sworn in that January day in 1999: four ex-House members, two former governors, a one-time state senator and trial lawyer John Edwards.

I'm not sure this what you would call breaking news, but some people may like to read the information on Edwards ...in the Charlotte Observer today..

While you read this you must remember that North Carolina has gone with a Democrat as president, since Jimmy Carter. I, for one think the condition of the economy may bring North Carolina back to vote Democratic in the next Presidential election (remember I said may)

2. There's a Nagourney piece in the NYT
this morning in which Edwards suggests that unless his campaign takes off in the next 2 months, he may well withdraw.

3. Edwards needs to worry about his Senate seat.
John Edwards is a pompous ass. The Republican's have their sights set on 60 senate seats, and Edwards is fucking us by waffling on whether to give Erskine Bowles the go ahead to run for his senate seat. He wants to wait and see how he does in the spring before the Dems will know who their senate candidate in NC is. Meanwhile, top democratic donors are now giving to Burr because they are convinced that their only shot at patronage is to donate to republicans.

I'm not optimistic about Bowles doing better against Burr than he did against Bimbo Dole.

Oh--I live in NC, and rest assured, Edwards winning the nomination is not going to turn NC into a blue state.

5. Are you sure you aren't a republican
You sound very much like a republican...the ones that pound Edwards every day..most vote republican because of religion, however they had a guy, Al Gore who went to a religious school after coming from Vietnam, they gave their vote to and AWOL Texan..who by his own omission was drunk for 20 years. I disagree with Edwards making the state blue...it has been blue since Jesse Helms showed up on the scene. I think the failing economy that has people in North Carolina ready to panic is going to turn the state around..As for Edward's not giving the information as to wheather he will run for the North Carolina Senate, I think it is a very good idea...He knows what he is doing.. Just trust him.

6. not only that, Edwards told Bowles what he was doing and
Bowles and Edwards were both happy with it. This idea that he's hurting anybody by not deciding is such manufactured crapola that I'm embarassed for the poor Republican War Room for whom this is the best they can come up with.

8. I tend to disagree...
I am also from NC and I see a very different situation occurring. In fact, what the fuck, man? You seem to have a big fucking chip on your shoulder. Its fucking shame that you have such a negative outlook on Edwards. He could be really fucking good for NC.

Oh, and I really appreciate your opening the door to relaxing my normal standards of discourse in a public forum. This really is a fun place and the people here are all so eloquent, intelligent and well-spoken.

4. Not LBN.. moving
This article is a Feature Piece on Sen. Edwards, and it's actually very thorough and interesting! Since it doesn't really qualify as latest breaking news, it would be a good addition to the Politcs & Campaigns forum.

Thanks!
